This is a response to the Challenge by Angle of Doom.

It was September 3rd at Noon sharp when a beautiful baby girl was born. Her name was Valentine Lee Snape, little tuffs of black curly hair was emitting at the top of her head, and bright blue eyes shown through the wrinkled, red face. Severus Snape had entered the hospital room with tears streaming down his face. Not that the baby wasn't beautiful it was because her mother had died during the delivery. Snape took the baby up in his arms and just looked at his Valentine. After a while both Snapes nodded off in the quite room of the hospital and slept until the next day.

The babe and father left St. Mungos to travel to their new home in Rome. Everything proceeded smoothly for a while at home, but the time came when Snape had to return to Hogwarts to teach again. A hired nanny by the name of Roxanne was left to raise the baby while Snape was away.

Years went by with Snape only being home for holidays and barley seeing his child. Now Valentine was 5 and fully alive with hope, dreams, and worry-free she new Rome like the back of her hand at was highly intelligent for her age. Snape tried to be a good father for her while he was there, but he knew that she needed more.

Valentine was a good kid and with every year she got older wiser and grew further apart from Snape. Roxanne was now very old and was ill, in the matter of weeks she died leaving no one for Valentine except her distracted father. Snape had to bring Valentine to Hogwarts there was no other choice to choose from. The move was settled and Valentine was brought to Hogwarts to live with her father. Now 10 Valentine was far beyond the first years in his or her studies and board with no one to play with. Dumbledore deiced that the best thing for Valentine was to enroll her early since she was smart enough and seemed ready for the challenge. Snape on the other hand did not want her to go through school early and go through all the rumors in the school.

"She is far beyond her years Severus, we can't waste talent like that on elementary stuff. She is ready to handle the school I can tell by the way she talks, and it will be good for her too."

"I do not want her to go early at Hogwarts, I have nothing against the school I think its the best, but I can't let her go this with me I couldn't handle her being here with me all the time. When I go home in the summer I barley talk to her and… and… its just to hard for me! She is not going to come here!" Snape was now very hostile and seemed to be hiding something. "There is the option of another school Albus, maybe St. Claries… yes I think that would be a good choice until she is ready to attend this school… yes it will be done thank you for your help Albus." Snape stood up and left the Headmasters office.

Valentine was sent away to St. Claries Boarding School of Magic, for this school did not go 7 years as Hogwarts but 8 years. The moment Valentine was shipped away was the moment that Severus felt the most guilt of letting her go. He suppressed this feeling and went into his dungeons for the rest of the night.
