Darling I lost the House Elf

"Hello Narcissa darling, how was your day?" Pleasant, a simple conversation starter

"Fine. And yours?" Controlling anger, already knows something has happened

"It was uneventful," Avoiding the truth

"Don't lie Lucius." Blunt, knows what has happened but wants her husband to admit it

"Darling, I…erm…lost the house elf," Apologetic, Trying to gauge his wife's reaction

"Oh did you? And how did you manage to lose the house elf?" Sarcastic.

"It wasn't me, it was the brat Harry Potter," Desperate, Trying to shift the blame

"You lost your dignity in front of Harry Potter as well did you? This just gets better."

"I wouldn't say I lost my dignity," Defensive, trying to make the situation seem less bad.

"You were blasted down a corridor by the house elf you set free," raised eyebrow

"Wow, news really travels fast," Subject shift, trying to calm the atmosphere.

"I heard the full story from our son."

Narcissa crossed the room to a glass fronted cabinet where the family heirlooms were kept and unlocked it. Lucius' eyes followed her in confusion. Narcissa took out a rare porcelain vase that belonged to Lucius' Grandmother.

"Narcissa, what are you doing with that vase?" Polite but already knows the answer.

"You really want to know?" Rhetorical but calm.

"Darling, before you throw that vase at me I just want you to know that we can sort this out. We will just get another house elf,"

"That house elf has been in our family for years! They are not easy to replace!"

The vase flew through the air and exploded on the wall behind Lucius' head.

"You missed."

"Stupefy!"

And for the second time that afternoon Lucius Malfoy went flying backwards across the room. Narcissa walked calmly over to him.

"Fine, replace the house elf, but until you do, you will be doing all the washing, cooking, cleaning and everything else, Deal?"

"Yes Darling."
