Prompt story For January 9th: Caffeine. (So very sorry it's late. I didn't realize how late till just now)

Disclaimer: I don't own anything you recognize.

She needed caffeine. Hermione felt she had gotten about six hours of sleep total in the past two days. Her new baby kept her up all hours of the night, and with Ron working late nights at the shop with his brother, he always came home exhausted. Half the time he didn't even change his clothes. He just plopped into bed without bothering to take off his shoes. Hermione always took off his shoes for him.

She yawned as she rocked her baby girl back to sleep for what felt like the tenth time that night.

The next morning she rose out of bed in a horrible mood. The baby kept her up four times that night. Two times the baby peed on her, once she spit up on her.

Instinct told her to check on the baby girl. Hermione tried not to panic, and went into the baby's room. The baby wasn't in her bed. Hermione then began to panic as she raced down stairs. She went to the baby's bassinet they often kept downstairs and searched there. No baby Rose.

Finally in panic and needing caffeine badly, Hermione went into the kitchen.

There, at the kitchen table sat Molly Weasley with her grandbaby sound asleep.

"Now, mum, these aren't the best scrambled eggs. Hermione makes them better." Molly looked up and winked at Hermione. Ron hadn't noticed she came in the room.

Ron turned around with the eggs in a pan so fast that they slipped out of the pan and fell on the floor. He was startled to see her awake.

"Ron wanted to surprise you with breakfast and coffee. The baby cried as soon as I got here this morning so I didn't' want to wake you. She just wanted a fresh nappy," Molly exclaimed waving her wand and cleaning up the mess.

"I'm sorry, Mum. I'll make breakfast again." Ron went over to the stove.

"Ron, thank you for letting me sleep in but next time couldn't you wake me up?"

"Everyone gets to sleep in every once in a while." Ron grinned. "I made fresh coffee too. Don't worry mum showed me how to do it the correct way."

Hermione knew Ron was trying his best. She always made breakfast and coffee, but lately she needed sleep. A new baby was something she thought she could get use to. Hermione discovered she couldn't do anything without caffine.

"Ron, thank you, "she said glancing at Mrs. Weasley. Her mother-in-law smiled at her as she handed the baby over.

"I came to give you Ginny's wedding invitation. I felt it was too precious to get lost in owl mail."

Ron placed a nice cup of black coffee in front of Hermione. Hermione stared at the cup.

"I know you've been wanting caffeine lately ever since you've had late nights with Rose," Ron stated smiling. He watched her closely so she knew she had to take a sip.

Warm coffee flowed down her throat, when she finished taking a sip, she felt so much better. The caffeine already started working. Hermione stood up, carefully and walked over to her husband. She kissed him lightly on the cheek.

"Great coffee, Ron, I needed it." Rose cried causing Hermione to smile. "I'll be right back," Hermione said smiling at the two of them as she took Rose from Molly.

As Hermione walked out of the kitchen she heard Ron talk to his mum.

"Thank you, Mum. You're right. Letting her sleep in was the best thing she needed."

"And to think, this is what she needed all along," Molly said happily.

Hermione drank her tea in the evening, but needed caffeine in the morning. She was grateful to Ginny for introducing her to coffee. It made everything better. A quiet Rose cried out in hunger causing Hermione to smile down at her babe.

"Wait until you try caffeine, dear Rose. If you think mommy's milk is great, you haven't tried anything yet," Hermione said walking up the stairs.
