By the way, this was originally posted on my tumblr account, but after I posted it, I realized that I forgot about the Hall Of Justice getting blown up in Cornered, so: AU where the league rebuilt the hall? Please go with this? No? Fine.
While the hall was definitely more-tourist filled than the Watchtower could ever be, Kaldur never minded at all when team debriefings had to be held on-planet. He wouldn't mention it to too many people, but space was surprisingly cold for a guy who could live and thrive in the waters of the arctic.
Besides, zeta-beams tended to make him feel a little discombobulated with every transport.
"Every one is here, correct?" Kaldur called as the few team members gathered around the League's computer.
"I'll head count, Aqualad," Garfield offered enthusiastically. With his tail, he pointed to every team member and recited their names, "Guardian, Bee, Batgirl, Supes, and… hm, KF's not here."
Kaldur raised an eyebrow, as it was not usual for someone as impulsive as Bart Allen to ever be late to these events. Despite being as annoying as a pebble in one's shoe, Bart did have a good habit of always being on time. It seemed to be a speedster thing that The Flash himself mysteriously lacked.
"That is peculiar," Kaldur noted. "Where can he be-"
NYOOM!
In a mere second, a red and yellow streak appeared from the door and stopped right between Batgirl and Superboy, Bart Allen instantly appearing where the blur stopped.
"Sorry, I'm late! I was vastly distracted."
"Your attention span's shorter than my patience," Conner said with just a little bit of deadpan in his tone. "How could you get distracted with anything?"
Bart started smirking with smartness that was way too mischievous for his own good, "I walked into the kitchen and saw Jaime…" Everyone didn't seem too surprised that Bart would spend time chatting with a close friend. It was only when he continued that everyone started to understand, "… with Cassie."
Mal and Karen both chuckled in harmony, Gar started to laugh, and the ever so serious Conner and Barbara actually managed a small snicker. The team leader, however, seemed just a bit confused.
"Am I missing something here?" Kaldur asked the team.
"You don't know about Cass and Jaime? They're a thing you know," Gar explained.
"Yeah," Karen added. "And we're tallying off how many times we've caught them sucking face. At the end of every month, the one with the most marks gets treated to a burger."
"Today gives me 3 for this month," Bart calculated with his usual smirk.
"Well, you're going down, Speedster, I've got 4," Batgirl begged to differ.
"Same here," added Gar.
Mal just had to speak up, "Sucks to be you guys, because me and Karen have 5."
"Not for long once I catch them for the 6th time," Conner warned, chuckling just slightly under his breath.
Sighing, Kaldur knew that it was his duty as a leader to keep his team focus and concentrated. Therefore, he had to shift their focus back onto the mission, "Guys, guys, we are a team. And right now, we must focus on following Batgirl's lead on Intergang tonight. THEN we can go back to gossiping about Jaime and Cassie and their… face sucking."
A few of the team members sighed, others nodded maturely, but all in all, Kaldur had the attention of his team back.
"There, with matters settled, let us focus," Kaldur said, turning back to the computer. However, he couldn't help but add his own two cents to the previous topic before it closed off completely. "And for the record, if we are only counting this month, I have you all beat. I'm at 7."
