"Tsu… nade…" Hashirama Senju said in disbelief. An air of despair seemed to descend upon him as he uttered his granddaughter's name. "And the village… is still… standing?"
Minato looked at the man in disbelief. "You have so little faith in her."
Hashirama smiled, laughing to himself. "It's just… since she was my first granddaughter I spoiled her rotten. She picked up some really bad habits from me, including my propensity for gambling." He proceeded to laugh as he remembered his small granddaughter smiling at him holding a large sum of money.
"Grandpa!" Tsunade called to her grandfather.
Hashirama looked down at his six year old grandchild. She had come to visit him while he finished some of his paperwork, and Hashirama welcomed the distraction.
"Yes, Tsunade?" he asked, giving her his undivided attention.
"Jiraiya taught me this new card game!" Tsunade said excitedly. "But he said that I can't play because I don't have any money," she added dejectedly, looking up at her grandfather, a slight pout on her lip.
Hashirama looked down at her, falling instantly for her look. He sighed, pulling some money from his pocket. He handed it to her, and her eyes instantly brightened. Hashirama couldn't resist a gamble, and, besides, how much money could a six year old lose in a card game against another six year old?
"Here, honey, but don't tell your mom that I gave this to you, ok?" he said with a wink. Tsunade's mother disapproved of his gambling habits and would surely accost him for teaching gambling to her daughter. Hashirama would take those chances.
Tsunade nodded, turning and running from the room. She called over her shoulder, "Thanks, Grandpa!" before closing the door behind her.
About an hour later, Hashirama was in the same place, continuing with the paperwork that never seemed to cease, when the door creaked open. Tsunade dejectedly walked in, taking a seat in front of her grandfather's desk.
Hashirama did not even look up. "Did you lose all the money?" he asked.
Tsunade nodded with a sad look on her face.
Hashirama sighed, pulling more ryo from his pocket and handing it to her.
He couldn't resist a gamble, even if the odds were horribly against him.

Wow I haven't posted in forever. I've been meaning to get back into fanfiction for a while now but have hit the worst writer's block of my life. But this new chapter of Naruto was the cutest thing ever when Hashirama found out his granddaughter was the new Hokage I just had to write about it. I know it's short but bear with me. I've been working on a much longer Naruto story but I'm trying to figure out how to end it now.
Anyone who read the new chapter: Seriously the little pic of Tsunade that came up when Hashirama talked about his gambling issues was the cutest/weirdest pic of Tsunade ever! :3 And the idea of her gambling with Jiraiya and losing is totally believable...
