Hey everyone! I wrote a short fanfic about the Japril baby name. Check it out and let me know what ya think if ya want to :)
Little coos filled the maternity floor room currently occupied by April, Jackson and now their new little girl. It was just after eight am and their daughter was less than twelve hours old. The new parents were in love, already vowing to devote their whole world to her. She had ten fingers and ten toes, verified by April over and over. Just a little brown hair on the top of her head and big, brown eyes that drew you in, along with all of your heart and soul.
April had been holding her in her arms since she woke up. Giving birth to their daughter was the most excruciatingly painful experience she ever had in her life but she would do it all over again. Their little girl took to April right away, having no problem starting to nurse. April was a natural and Jackson couldn't get enough. Even though he and April were still divorced, he wanted nothing more than to be back in the life they had together both for their sake and their daughter's.
After losing Samuel, April was fairly certain that she would never want to go through the emotional and physical pain of conceiving and carrying a child again but that was before this little girl. The silence in the room wasn't heavy, but it was noticeable. It wasn't that they didn't have anything to say, it was just one of those intimate moments where nothing actually needed to be said. That never stopped April before though.
"I want to name her April" she said, proudly letting her feminist flag fly. After that birth, she felt like she really was the soldier that Hunt had been calling her all along. She had never felt like a stronger woman than in that moment. It took a lot, but she took her eyes off of her daughter for the first time to look up at Jackson.
Jackson glanced over at her and a small smirk appeared at one corner of this mouth. He realized she wasn't joking. "April…you can't be serious".
She could tell he wasn't on board, but it wasn't going to stop her. Naming their daughter April was nothing that had ever even crossed her mind before that exactly moment it came out of her mouth. She always admired Lorelai Gilmore doing it on Gilmore Girls, but never thought that she would feel the same. She never felt worthy of doing it. At least until now.
"I am, Jackson. Men do it all of the time. Do you know how many Junior's we have in my family? Or that there are in every family? They're all Juniors of men. But what has any…any man done that has been anywhere near this?"
Jackson was speechless. She was right. He knew it. The scream he heard when Ben cut into her belly with absolutely no anesthesia was something that will probably give him nightmares. It wouldn't be the first time either.
He didn't know what to say to her. He was reasonable and tried to process what she was saying. He and April not always being on the same page didn't mean that he didn't think she was strong. April was the strongest woman he knew. But it was weird… and then again so was April.
"April Grace Avery…" he whispered, watching his newborn daughters eyes light up and a small giggle come out of her. He lightly tickled her belly with his pointer finger and she did it again. He looked at April who was clearly absolutely in love and pleased with the middle name he chose too. "We love you more than anything in the whole world".
