There she was holding the name card . A woman wearing a black rain coat , her face showed all signs of
happiness the minute she saw me. I ran to her and gave her a big hug.
"I've missed you Auntie Kim " I told her while she embraced me in her motherly arms.
I've never met Auntie before but I had heard a lot of stories about her from my parents , how she was such a
nice person , a kindhearted and caring mother who loved her children very much. maybe I was a stranger to
this country but the I knew that Auntie and her family were going to fill up that emptiness I had inside.
" You're all grown up now Serena , the last time I saw you , you were still a elementary school student"
"Well time passes and we grow up " I said back to her with a sweet smile
"That's life ..." she answered back
We headed to the house , the car ride took approximately an hour and a half from the airport , I was so
tired that I didn't have time to look out of the window and explore the I just slept like baby.
"We arrived" told me Auntie with her sweet and tender voice.
I got up went out of the car , took my luggage and walked to the front door of the house.
"It's a big house , I wonder if thieves visits often" I told myself.
Auntie opened the door and welcomed me in . I took my shoes off because it was a custom to take your
shoes off when you enter a house and lend it me a pair of flip-flops.
" You must be tired " said Auntie Kim , "You should go upstairs and get some rest until dinner time and
you'll get to see the rest of the family when you wake up "
I nodded. She showed me room , it was all decorated in a princess theme with all pink stuff .
" Aaakh I hate pink " I said to myself . But I thanked Auntie for the room because I knew that she was so
excited while preparing this room that she even used the most expensive material to welcome me and make
me feel comfortable. She closed the door when she headed out and there I was 4949.5 Miles away from
home , in a pink room that even my friends wouldn't believe that I'll be staying in from now on but I didn't
want to feel homesick so I changed my cloths , washed my face to freshen up and went into the pink
covered bed and closed my eyes.
There he was in black and white , a shadow laughing at me , I tried to run but my feet were glued to the floor ,
the shadow was approaching every time I tried to run away from it . He was so fast , his deep breath was reaching me
I could see his burned face . I screamed but no one heard me and when he suddenly opened his mouth
I opened my eyes. There she was shaking me to wake up. It was Auntie Kim' older daughter " Ju hee" . I sat on the bed
still not understanding what happened until she said:
" A bad dream? You were yelling in your sleep"
" No it was nothing " I replied and she gave me a big hug and said :
"Welcome to Korea Serena , I'm so happy you're finally here , come on get up , everyone is waiting downstairs , dinner
is ready."
I nodded , get off the bed , fixed my bedhead and accompanied her downstairs.
