"Good job today, Professor." complimented Ginger as the two stood side by side doing the dishes from dinner. "Except for that joke about blood in you acting…"
The Professor chuckled. "I suppose it was a pretty weak joke, wasn't it?" Ginger nodded.
"Oh, by the way, Ginger, I was wondering- if you hadn't any other plans- would you like to take a walk on the beach with me?"
"Why, Professor, I'd love to!"
"Great! I'll meet you on the beach in about 20 minutes." said the Professor, and the two left to get ready.
Twenty minutes later, the Professor met Ginger down by the lagoon, and the Professor led her to his favorite spot, a small hidden cove on the other side of the island.
"Professor, this is awfully far away from camp, shouldn't we be going back soon?" asked Ginger after about thirty minutes of being together.
"We should be fine for now." he said. "Ginger?"
"Hm?"
"If you had to pick one of us on the island- I mean, if we never got rescued- to…become romantically involved with…who would you pick?"
Ginger laughed, and the Professor looked hurt. "Oh, Professor, I didn't mean that. It's just such a sudden question…"
"It's not meant to be serious, Ginger. If you feel uncomfortable answering, though, by all means…"
"No, no, it's okay. Just really sudden. Let me think a moment."
Ginger then proceeded to stand up and lean on a wall of the cove, looking at the sky, seeming deep in thought.
Truth was, though, Ginger didn't need to think. She was quite excited- she'd had a crush on the Professor for the longest time, and his asking that question made her feel as though there was a chance he might feel the same way…"
"I'll tell if you do…" the Professor said. " On the count of three: One, two, three:"
"You."
"You."
Ginger smiled and released the kiss she'd fought to hold back for a long time. The Professor started blurting out random scientific facts when she stopped.
But she silenced him…
