In the years that followed the 'Battle of Hogwarts,' as it had been named, there seemed to be only two Houses. Whereas Ravenclaw, Gryffindor, and Hufflepuff continued to have separate common rooms, classes, and Quidditch teams, they had merged to a point where inter-House friendships had blossomed. Many students' closest friends were not even in the same house.

Slytherin, however, had remained a solitary house. In contrast to the friendshipm between theses three houses , the rift between Slytherin and the remaining houses had grown steadily over the years until it became what seemed like an irreparable void.

Everybody in the magical community knew how the rift was formed and who was responsible. Pansy Parkinson had become infamous for her rushed statement, "But he's there! Potte'rs there! Somebody grab him!" Those three small sentences, that single announcement—whether said in fear or hatred—led to Slytherin House being despised by the remaining three. Even though this hatred shared between the houses had eventually ebbed, the rift that had been formed remained.

Albus Potter had always wished to be seen as his own person, but, like the rest of his siblings, his main claim to fame had been being "Harry Potter's son."

When Hogwarts's Sorting Hat had been placed on his head at the beginning of his first year, it had taken its time in sorting him. Immediately after it finally bellowed its decision, there had been a shocked silence, followed by a wave of murmurs: "Slytherin? How can he be in Slytherin?"

In the months that followed, every magazine and paper in the European magical community had reported that the younger Potter son had been sorted into the 'enemy house.'

Almost as if he were taunting the media, Albus then befriended the ostracized Scorpius Malfoy. The boy was constantly rejected by students who either remembered his family's disloyalty to the Dark Lord, or, in most cases, refused to befriend him due to his family ties to Voldemort.

Over his seven years at the school, Albus Potter became a role model of his house. Although he was never the brightest student, his studying led him to receiving top marks, along with Scorpius, who was now his best friend. Both of them tutored other students from a range of years and houses.

Even with all his achievements under his belt, Albus prided himself most in the fact that now students from Slytherin were more at ease with students from the other houses, and visa versa. Friendships grew between Slytherins and Hufflepuffs, Ravenclaws, and even occasionally Gryffindors. While the old competitiveness between the houses remained, the void that had been there since the Battle had closed.
