In all their years of competitive card gaming, nothing had compared to the tension that filled the room at this very moment. The two teens sat across from each other at their small table, each peering down at their hand of cards.
A piece of scrap paper in the center of the table indicated that of the eight games played, Yuugi had won four, leaving him and Seto in a tie.
Yuugi slammed a green zero onto the stack and shouted, "UNO!"
Kaiba felt a bead of sweat drip down his face, he had two cards left, neither were green, nor were they a zero. He felt his heart pounding as he reached for the draw pile. Seto held his breath as he drew his card, a green three! The brunette smirked, looking at his adversary.
It was Yuugi's turn to sweat, what had he drawn? What if it was a plus two or a plus four card? He would surely be in trouble if that was the case…
Seto turned the card around to place it onto the pile as Yuugi sighed in relief. It was finally time for the finishing move!
Kaiba clenched his cards in his clammy hands, hoping that Yuugi would draw from the pile. However he was met with Yuugi jumping out of his seat.
"I WIN!" he screamed, slapping his plus four card onto the pile, causing all of the brightly colored cards to flutter about the room. A dirty move...
After Yuugi finished visualizing the massive crowd applause he was accustomed to, the spiky haired boy noticed his opponent's scowling mug. Yuugi had to stop himself from chuckling at the multiple uno cards that had landed in his hair and on his jacket. He coughed instead, trying to be serious, Yuugi knew that if Seto did not get his way he would not talk to him and pout for the rest of the night.
Following a well placed eye roll, Yuugi spoke to the fuming man child. "Look, uh… let's play one more game!" Yuugi started to pick up the cards. "This one will be for all of the marbles."
Seto raised an eyebrow, interested, but still hesitant. Yuugi noticed this and panicked slightly.
"If you win," Yuugi said, reaching up to pluck the cards off of Seto's head. "I'll give you a kiss."
Kaiba turned bright red, furrowing his eyebrows and glaring away from Yuugi's direction. The pair had not been dating for long, and certainly had not had any intimate moments. The closest Seto had been to his boyfriend was for some very sensual hand holding, and on very special and rare occasion, a hug or a firm handshake between comrades. Seto could barely even imagine kissing the boy! Could Yuugi even reach his lips?! This could take their relationship to an all new level!
Seto held out his hand.
"Deal." He simply said, summarizing his thoughts prior.
"Great!" Yuugi said, shaking Seto's hand with a smile.
Once again the two boys were thrust into the heat of battle. Seto had a new sense of determination to win the two trophies that came with his win; bragging rights and a kiss!
With each card leaving their deck, the pair quickly realized they were neck and neck. Soon both had called Uno, and it was Yuugi's turn.
He looked at Seto, who was nervously sweating, then at his card, then at the discard deck. It was a red five. Yuugi smiled and drew from the draw pile, then placed the red six he drew into the discard pile.
"Uno." He said calmly, watching Seto's face light up with one of his rare genuine smiles.
The brunette slapped his card onto the top of the pile, it was a blue six.
"Better luck next time, Yuugi." Seto smirked before being grabbed by the cheeks into a kiss.
Seto had never blushed so hard in his life.
"Congratulations, Seto: Champion of Uno!" Yuugi said as he slipped the lone card from his hand into the pile.
It was a plus four color changer card.
