This is my present to Chi (in a teapot) on her birthday. I hope you like it. If you don't, there is a return/exchange policy. :) Happy birthday, my dear.
James had woken to the sound of rain hitting the windows of his flat and a cold draft had crept into the bedroom, thanks to the window that had been left open just a bit. Reluctantly, he drug himself out of bed and quietly padded over to the window, shoving it closed. After a quick trip to the bathroom, he collapsed back in his bed, next to the still sleeping girl.
It was strange to see Chi lying there, still. It seemed like the girl never stopped moving, never stopped doing things. She just always had so much energy. Even after they'd been up for almost 24 hours, she'd had twice the energy he'd had. It was incredible and baffling and completely endearing. But now she was curled up, asleep, and not moving except shifting a little closer to him once he slid back under the covers. He slipped his arm around her and pulled her against, letting her head rest on his chest.
He knew it sounded cliche, but he couldn't help but think that she looked a bit angelic when she slept, which was quite a contrast to her waking persona. Her face completely relaxed and there was a hint of a smile at the corners of her mouth. Her long dark hair fanned out on the pillow, contrasting against the plain white sheets. His thumb lightly traced against the sliver of skin between her shirt and shorts. He found himself simply watching her and admiring the girl he'd loved for years.
"Jamie?"
He was pulled from his thoughts at hearing her say his name. For a second, he thought she might be talking in her sleep but then he noticed she was moving ever so slightly.
"Yeah?"
"Stop staring at me when I sleep. It's creepy."
