Serverus quickly made his way out of the DADA classroom and into the corridor, his mind already buzzing with how to best write the essay they'd just been assigned on Boggarts. He smirked to himself, remembering how Potter and his Entourage had spent the whole class in the back, talking amongst themselves, likely planning their next act of debauchery. There was no way they had paid any attention to what was going on in class, and therefore little to no way they could get a passing grade on this assignment. The thought of the "brilliant" Potter's family receiving a letter from the school regarding their son's academic failings was enough to give Serverus a slight skip in his step.

Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted a flash of gold, and turned to see a golden snitch zooming toward his face. He raised a book to protect himself, but when he heard no smack of the snitch hitting it, he lowered it to find the snitch hovering there, as if waiting for someone to reach out and grab it. Serverus glanced around and saw no one, so he reached for the snitch, and to his surprise, it zoomed right into his hand. He felt surprised at the affinity the small ball seemed to have for him, and thought to himself that maybe, he might try out for the Slytherin team seeker position. It might impress Lily, and possibly even give him a chance to upstage Potter on the field. He smiled to himself, thinking that maybe today was a pretty good day.

"SO! WE FIND THE CULPRIT!"

Serverus turned with the shadow of a smile still on his face to see a wheezing and limping Filch making his way toward him, with Mrs. Norris streaking alongside him.

"So... SO! Look my pet the cretin even smiles at all the trouble he's caused with his little toy!" Filch growled at him and grabbed him by the scruff of his cloak.

"What...I don't understand...I didn't do anything! IT WASN'T ME!" Serverus yelled, flabbergasted by the sharp turn his day had taken, still clutching the Snitch in his fist as it struggled to get away from him. Filch sniffed at him and grumbling, dragging Serverus toward his office to write him up. Severus glanced around desperately, and found Potter and company leaning a little too causally against the wall, and as filch passed, they burst into silent laughter.

Snape narrowed his eyes at them, realizing just what had been up to all class period, and silently vowed to find a way to get back at them for this, for making him believe things were going his way, and then snatching it away from him.

He kept that snitch to remind himself of that promise.
