Zeus was rather bored until he heard a POP! There was a box with a delivery slip that read:
The Gods
Mount Olympus
600th Floor
Empire State Building
New York, NY
With best wishes,
PERCY JACKSON
Zeus had just tried killing the kid, so he figured whatever was in this box was nothing good.
He decided to call Poseidon and Athena to the throne room. He figured she would be interested since her daughter was on that quest. He also invited anyone else who wanted to come.
Hera didn't show. Go figure. She didn't seem to care about anything that had to do with half-bloods.
Ares came because he "wanted to keep tabs on old Seaweed's kid".
Apollo came simply because he had nothing better to do.
Aphrodite came because she was interested Percy. Oh, did she have plans in store for him and that Chase girl.
Hermes grumbled about so much mail, but he eventually came along.
It was summer, so Demeter was off with Persephone doing Hades knows what.
Artemis was off with her hunters doing Hades knows what.
Hephaestus was off in one of his forges doing Hades knows what.
"Now," began Zeus, "I bet you are wondering why I have called you two here." He held up a package and read the delivery slip, "The Gods, Mount Olympus, 600th Floor, Empire State Building, New York, NY. With best wishes, Percy Jackson."
The throne room was silent.
"This can't be good," Athena said, breaking the silence.
Posiden glared at her. "You don't trust him just because he's my son?"
"I don't trust him because a certain someone just tried to kill him," she corrected. "He may be out for revenge."
"Athena may be right," Zeus said, agreeing with his daughter. "And that certain someone is sitting right here."
The bickering when on and on about whether they should open it or not, why Zeus tried to . The argument went back and forth like a tennis match.
Aphrodite sighed. "If we're going to make such a big deal out of a box, can we get it open already?"
"Poseidon, you open it," ordered Zeus. "He is your son," he said dragging out every word, trying to remind his brother about the oath.
Poseidon sighed. You broke the oath, too, he thought. He took the package. He carefully opened the package. There was something circular covered in a black veil. Poseidon was beginning to pull the black cloth off, when he spotted a snake. He pulled the veil back just a bit further. Sure enough, there were more snakes. "Medusa," Poseidon said as soon as he figured it out.
Apollo raised his eyebrows. "Wait a minute. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. You're saying this kid mailed us her head."
"Apparently, yes," he answered.
"How impertinent can one boy be?" Athena exclaimed.
Ares spoke up. "He's Poseidon's kid. What do you expect?"
Athena gave an exasperated sigh. "Ares, as thick-headed as you are, you have a point."
"Who are you callin' 'thick-headed'?"
"Do we half to let Ares and Athena get into a century long argument?" Hermes wined.
"Oh, please don't!" Aphrodite begged.
Athena just rolled her eyes.
Apollo raised his hand as if he was in class.
"Yes, Apollo?" Zeus asked.
"Can we leave now?"
"Everyone may leave except for Poseidon and Athena," Zeus announced. He was barely done talking when everyone (except Athena and Poseidon) teleported out.
Athena glared at Poseidon. "Keep him away from my daughter. That boy of yours is impertinent." With that, she teleported out with the rest of them, and Poseidon teleported to his underwater palace.
The others have their reasons, Poseidon thought. But I know the real reason: he wanted me to notice what he had done. That's why he sent us Medusa's head.
