/ Chapter One /
Mirror, Mirror, On The Wall. Who's The Most Fabulous Of Them All?
The school was abuzz with gossip. Everywhere you went you could hear students chat endlessly about Harry Potter and Ron Weasley crashing into the Whomping Willow, and about the mysterious new student from Japan and how since the Sorting Hat couldn't decide, she was placed in every house- rotating every month.
And thanks to none other than Hermione Jean Granger, Harry and Ron were up-to-date with the schools latest gossip.
" Japan, huh? " Ron started, frowning. " How far away is th- "
" Approximately 5,662 miles away. " Hermione supplied before Ron could finish. Ron and Harry stared at her for a moment. " I went to the library quickly before I came up here. "
" Why am I not surprised? " The words were followed by a deep sigh. The trio turned to see the Weasley twins- Fred and George.
" Dear Hermione- " One of them started.
" You've been in school for a total of two hours- " The other said.
" Yet you've already managed to do something educational. " They both ended. " Tsk,
tsk. "
" And I'm very sure you have already managed to corrupt the school in some way. Doing something educational beats that. " The brunette replied tartly.
" Oh contraire, we haven't been corrupting the school- "
" But corrupting a person! "
" Oh God, what have you done with the first years?! " Hermione all but shrieked, already
on her feet with her wand out. Instinctively the two jumped out the wands way. When they jumped, they revealed a person behind them.
The person was a girl who looked to be the same age as the Golden Trio. Her appearance was most irregular. She had waist-length blazing red hair with yellow and orange highest that made her tiniest movement make it look like she was influnged in fire. Her warm blue-green eyes held kindness with a spark of mischievousness. Her fair skin was smooth and clear, with a dash of faint freckles across her small nose. She wore the same uniform as all of the girls, but with a single alteration. Looping around the waistband of her skirt, two charms rested. It was simple yet seemed meaningful. The first charm was a music note, and the other was a detailed...banana. Moving on, around her neck, a necklace sat- a silver loop, but in the middle were four see though beads rested. A red bead with yellow specks, a yellow bead with black specks, a blue one with bronze specks, and a green one with silver specks. Each bead had a thread that was the beads same color connecting to foreign crest.
" Fred and George Weasley! What on earth did you do to her?! " Hermione demanded, her voice reaching high levels.
" Relax Granger. We didn't do anything. " Fred laughed.
" Not yet anyway. " George tossed in.
Hermione glared suspiciously at the two, not trusting either of them for a second. " Honestly, what do you expect me to think of you two? "
" Let no such man be trusted. " The red-haired girl recited softly. Her voice was clear and musical, as if she was bred for no other reason than to recite poems. Her accent was laced slightly with a Japanese tang, but otherwise, it sounded normal.
" You know Shakespeare? " Hermione questioned, her eyes lighting up with joy.
" Following his advice- No legacy is so rich as honesty- I must say the truth. Of course! " She said with a bright grin.
" Finally. Nobody seems to appreciate the art that is Shakespeare. " Hermione gushed to the foreign girl.
" Hermione, if you would stop nerding her up, it would be greatly appreciated. " Fred said with an eye roll.
" We found her first. She's ours. " George joked, placing his hands on the girls shoulders.
" I belong to no one. " The girl scoffed. But even though her tone suggested playfulness, her eyes spoke of determinedness- not that anyone noticed. Except for one Harry Potter- Harry who was always observing.
Harry had spent his whole time while watching this encounter observing the girl. She seemed much too familiar for someone he has never met before. The girl's eyes flickered from the bickering three too Harry and Ron. She gave Ron a friendly smile, before her eyes went to Harry. Her gaze turned questioning, as if she were trying to place a name on him. Harry returned her burning gaze with his own, locking eyes with each other.
" 'Ello you two. You were the ones who flew in through the car, right? " She asked with her head tilted. Ron's ears turned red as he groaned.
" That's bloody perfect. The new girl even knows about it. " He said, defeated. " Oh God. If she knows, everyone knows. " Harry gives him a sad smile in response.
" Hey, if you can't show up on time, then show up with pizzaz. " The girl said with a grin. " Nice to meet you two, by the way. My names Moore. Riley Moore. "
