Changing History
by Zzilly14

"What the bloody hell happened to me?" Spike wondered out loud as he wandered down the unknown yet familiar street.

He stopped dead in his tracks when he saw a gorgeous pale young woman with contrasting black hair walking cautiously down the street. Her long white dress twinkled in the moonlight.

"Dru?"

She paused and looked around, shaking, unable to see the figure in front of her. "Who... who's there?"

"It's me, pet. Spike."

"I... I don't know anyone with that name, good sir," she stuttered as she glanced behind her. "I must be going. It's getting late, and my family will worry..."

"Drusilla. My dark princess. You honestly don't remember?"

The raven-haired woman blushed. "I've never been with anyone, not that it's any of your business. Now, good sir, I ask you kindly to come out of the shadows so I may see your face."

"You don't see me, love? I'm right in front of you!"

She stated confidently, "Do not call me love. I do not know you!"

Spike muttered quietly, "I guess I'm a ghost, then. Back in the past or some such thing." He sighed. "What year is it?"

"What kind of question..."

"Just tell me the bloody year, alright? I've... got a bad memory."

"Bad memory?" Drusilla wondered. "Alright, sir. It is the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and sixty."

"1860? Okay, Dru, this is going to be a very strange question..."

"You're very strange, what else can I expect from such a man as you?"

"This is important, Dru. Are you having visions?"

"I am a pure woman! How dare you question my faith in God!"

Spike sighed. "I'm not questioning your believing or anything like that, pet. I just want to know. Did you see a crash in your vision?"

"How did you..."

"Let's just say... I'm a vision interpreter. Tomorrow there's going to be an accident at the mine. A couple good folks are gonna die."

"Die?" she whispered frightfully.

"Unless you warn them."

"But how will I convince them to leave the mine? They will not believe me, I'm just... a crazy devil child!"

"I'll help you out, alright? I'll tell you what to say." Spike smiled happily. "We're going to change history."
