Oneshot

I can't stand to look at them.

It's not so much the affection that bothers me, although the fact that anyone would actively want that whining, puling bastard enough to kiss him in public, much less be seen in his company is puzzling indeed; but no, I do not hate them for that fact alone.

It is instead, what they have that drives a knife into my gut. Their knowing expressions and unspoken conversations annoy me to no end. Those two, loath as I am to admit it, have something even James and Lily could never achieve. It is as if they were moulded into being at the same time and shaped with a loving hand. Marked in some imperfect way so that no other would do nor come together as seamlessly.

He is untouchable now. No matter what we do, ---or say, for that matter, ---nothing will rile him. It is as if he alone is privy to some sort of secret, for each time he views us it is with a pitying air. And dammit, to be regarded as such by one like Snivelling Severus is too much of a cross to bear.

She is gone. We saw the evidence this morning and quite honestly I had hoped to see the utter devastation of that prat Snape, but alas, it was not to be. As if it wasn't enough, Fate denies me the joy of seeing a broken man. He had been missing for the rest of that day but showed up during breakfast. I immediately sauntered up and asked," Your girlfriend gone? What did you finally do to drive her away?"

Yet even that backfired. He simply said," She was not my girlfriend. And I do not see any need to explain anything to you, of all people."

"Delude yourself much? The truth is, she left you Snape."

He merely smiled that supercilious smirk and excused himself. As he was walking away, he raised a hand in farewell and a flash of emerald sparkled in the dawning light.

To Dacian Goddess, Annie Talbot and Anonymous Person. Woefully, inadequately, forever in your debt. ^____^

PS- Draw your own conclusions. Also, this is a tentative foray, slight claw at the dream wall (bleach) if you will, into the pairing of ss/hg. And mild distraction from the two other imitation novel length fanfics that are still brewing.

By the way, the title is from a manga book I once read which bears no resemblance to this. I simply liked the setup and take no credit for the cleverness of it.
