I know that Richard Grayson is no longer Robin, but he will forever be my favorite character. This is something I randomly thought of while on a drive back from Florida. It might not be my best work, but I'm good at one-shots and I really wanted to do one for YJ so here it is.
Robin was standing in his room in Mount Justice looking at himself in the mirror. He couldn't help but look at the several scars throughout his body. He distinctly remembered how he earned every single one: tortured by the Joker, fighting Poison Ivy, the countless missions he had been on, even a gunshot wound he received a couple months ago. But, none of those scars mattered, they could heal by themselves. It was the emotional scars that had him looking at his reflection. He looked at his face and the only he could think was how hurt it looked. Everything he had been through was showing, it being the anniversary of his parents death didn't help at all. He sighed and put on a smile, studying how it looked. To him it looked fake, but to his friends he looked happy, he was even able to fool Batman with his smile. No one could ever understand what he felt on the inside, he wondered how after he had witnessed the death of his own parents and fought the toughest of villains in Gotham City how he was still able to smile. Truthfully, it took years of practice and he didn't want to admit to himself how much it hurt to smile. His thoughts were interrupted as he heard a knock on his door.
"Just a minute!" he called out. He put on a t-shirt and his dark sunglasses and opened the door. M'gann was standing there with a smile on her face as usual.
"Hi Robin, we're all about to watch a movie, and I made cookies, would you like to join us!" she said in her bubbly voice. Seeing her so happy cheered him up a little.
"Sure, just give me one second" he said.
"Ok, but don't take too long, Wally might eat all of the cookies" she said walking away.
Robin closed the door and looked at himself one last time in the mirror. He then realized how he was still able to smile, he may not have his parents with him anymore, but he gained a new family and no matter what this one was permanent. Happy with this realization he opened and ran out to join his friends.
Well, how was it and what do you think? Leave it in a review please and I would also like to know if I should continue doing one-shots like this.
