The Full Moon

It was late that night but the typing sounds on the keyboard can still be heard continuously in Emma's apartment. Normally she wouldn't be this careless to bring jobs home but today was exhausted so she just wants to get over with them as fast as she could.

'Ugh…'

Annoyed by the screen which is covered in red messages, Emma closes the laptop and falls back to rest on the couch. The couch is soft and nice, she feels glad that she bought it as she tends to sleep on it than in her own bedroom.

After letting out a long sigh, Emma reaches out for the coffee cup on the table. It has turned lukewarm and doesn't help defeat the drowsiness at all. Taking a sip from the soon-to-be-cold coffee, Emma starts to wonder about the reason she has been feeling down lately. Nothing has gone as she wanted, she kept herself busy but she can't focus on the job either. There is something, no, someone, who has been at the back of her mind for a while.

Holding the cup in both hands, Emma stays silent for a few minutes then looks out at the glass window. She didn't notice it at first but the sky tonight is bright, Emma's pupils slowly focus on the shining yellow moon. That's right, the moon inside Vrains that night was also a full moon.

Hearing Ai's statement, Emma can't help but chuckling.

[An AI can't understand this feeling!]

Will those words reach the person it is meant for? As Emma is about to steal a look at Playmaker, he cut her off.

[You promised. The data-

BAM!

The flashback ends with the sound of the coffee cup slamming on the table. Somehow the memory irritated her a bit too much. After a few minutes calming down, Emma lets go of the handle and lies back at the couch, wrapping both arms on her forehead. Even though she said so much, his response… is just... as expected of Playmaker.

'He wasn't fazed at all…'

Emma mutters in a low voice as if thinking about it isn't enough. Why does he keep searching for info from the incident ten years ago? How can Playmaker can be so fixated on his goal? What kind of life did he led?

Somehow the wrinkles between her eyebrows slowly disappeared and she smiles softly of her own thoughts. It was the first time a man with no reputation, no power nor wealth interested her this much.

Emma suddenly sits straight up and opens her laptop. Instead of continuing the jobs, Emma turns on the setting window of Link Vrains.
