Do You Wanna Build a Snowman?
I do not own Captain America in any way.
The Avengers never trusted Bucky around Steve's daughter Audrey alone.
Steve tried telling them that Bucky would never hurt her, but whenever one of the Avengers would babysit her, they never let Bucky come near her.
Bucky brushed it off, but in truth, Bucky loved the little girl.
The only time he was allowed to be near her was when he was with Steve and his wife.
Bucky would often fall asleep on the couch in the living room. He woke up and saw Audrey standing next to him. "Audrey?" he asked her, "What are you doing?"
She pointed to his metal arm.
He looked down and saw that she had wrote, 'I love you', in magnets. Bucky smiled and scooped the little girl up.
She giggled and Bucky started tickling her.
Bucky made sure to be gentle with her.
"Can we go to the park?" she asked him.
"But it's snowing outside", Bucky told her.
"I know, but you're the Winter Soldier", she told him.
Bucky was shocked.
One of the Avengers must have told her that. About what he did in DC.
Bucky's jaw clenched in anger. He relaxed when he felt her little hand on his cheek. "I was, but that's not who I am anymore", he told her. He stood up with Audrey in his arms and they went to the hall closet. He pulled out her coat and helped her put it on. He knelt down and wrapped her scarf around her neck and put her hat on her head.
Audrey pulled on her gloves as Bucky put his coat on.
The cold didn't bother him, but he put it on to look normal.
He pulled on his own gloves, to hide his metal hand. "Ready?" Bucky asked Audrey.
She nodded excitedly.
He took her small hand in his and they left the Avengers tower.
They walked to Central Park.
Central Park was covered in white snow, most of it untouched.
Audrey dragged Bucky to a section of untouched snow and said, "Uncle Bucky, help me build a snowman".
Bucky hadn't built a snowman in years. He knelt down and started rolling snow. "Why don't you go look for some sticks for his arms?" Bucky suggested.
"And some rocks for his eyes and smile!" Audrey said.
"Don't go too far!" Bucky called as she ran off.
When Audrey returned with the rocks and sticks, Bucky had built the snowman.
"What should we put on him first?" Bucky asked her.
"His eyes!" Audrey said.
Bucky picked Audrey up and helped her push the rocks into the snow. "I think we should give him a smile now", Bucky said.
They placed the rocks in a half circle.
Bucky put Audrey down and the each took a stick.
They pushed them into the torso of the snowman.
"Take my picture!" Audrey said. She wrapped her arms around the snowman as Bucky snapped a photo with his phone.
"Let's get you home and warmed up", Bucky told her. He picked her up and they left the park.
By the time they arrived at Avengers tower, Audrey was asleep on Bucky's shoulder.
"C'mon sleepy girl", he told her. He helped her peel off her wet clothes and gave her warm bath. He dressed her in pajamas and put in Audrey's favorite movie.
When the Avengers returned to the tower, they found both of them asleep.
Melody walked over and lifted her daughter off Bucky's chest. She stroked her daughter's hair as she carried her to her bed.
At the feeling the little girl's weight gone, Bucky woke up.
"Thanks for taking care of her Buck", Steve said.
"Anytime", Bucky told him.
