I felt as if Link spent a night under the skies just remembering about everything he's done... everyone he's left... and more importantly, a certain someone he misses.
After Majora's Mask.
Oneshot.
As he rode through the Lost woods yet again, after his adventure in Termina, night fell, and Link decided to rest under the starlit skies. He had lost count of the days that passed by after going back through the same 3 day cycle over, and over, but in reality, it had only been a mere 5 days since he departed looking for his lost companion. He laid there under the sky, looking at the stars shine as bright as they could through the tree's of the woods.
He couldn't help but reminisce about a forest girl with green hair in the night sky, her eyes filled with tears when he first left the forest. He felt an ache in his heart, sure he didn't cry when he left, but inside his heart was tearing apart as he ran through the tunnel.
Saria..., he said to himself.
He couldn't help but see memories of her face flood the night sky; of how happy she was when she was around him, and how happy he felt whenever she was around. The pain in his heart grew as tears formed in his eyes, slowly streaming down he regrets having to leave her that day. It was his duty though, his duty as the supposed Hero of Time.
It feels as though all he's ever done was run off into the unknown. Forced to leave everyone he once grew attached to satisfy his needs. First Saria...Malon...he even missed Darunia, even though he once almost squashed him. As he came to Termina all he saw was their counterparts... Romani... Darmani... but there was no counterpart for Saria. It was then he knew there could only be one of her.
"Maybe that's why she's so special to me..." he said to himself, "because there's no one, even in another dimension that could replace her."
He sat up, and felt a gentle hand wipe his tears away. He opened his eyes to see a faint image of Saria in front of him."Remember? I taught you that song just so we could talk..." the image smiled before vanishing.
He had totally forgotten about the song; he's had to memorize at least 14 other songs since he first held the ocarina. He saw a tree stump nearby, and another image of her appeared. As he approached the stump, the image disappeared and he took a seat on it. He pulled out the Fairy Ocarina, the one he's kept close to his heart all that time, and played the song she had taught him...
The End
