The Lost "Me"

Note - This poem was inspired by the Chobits series by CLAMP. Sorry... It's a little confusing. It's one of my few attempts at poetry... ((Anime sweat drop)) Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy it!

I meander astray in the midnight mist,

Oh so barrenly.

How can I be sure

That I am really "me"…?

Who is "me"…?

I cannot evoke any reminiscence…

I am searching…

The only sound is the rain's thumping beat

As I wander among the deserted alleyway street.

For me, there is no feat.

Though, something cuts deep into my heart.

Something tells me I am being called upon to depart.

I still search for this "me"…

The one that's true…

Will I remember,

Or will a new "me" rise anew…?

How can I be sure

That I am really "me"…?

Who is "me"…?

I see my reflection in the window of a shop

And wonder,

Who is this…?

I feel like I'm trapped in an oceanic abyss

Searching for myself.

What do I look for?

I will know when I see "me".

I will merge with the other "me"

And we will become one.

"We" will feel the breeze of the sea…

"We" will become free…

I will have found this "me"…

The one that's true…

I will remember.

Both the new and old me will rise, united, anew…

I am sure

That I am really "me"…

My memories make me the real "me"…

Memories make a person who they really are…

For without them,

You can never be sure where you belong,

Or who you really are…
