She could barely remember life before him.
It seemed so distant, so unimportant, because, from the moment he entered her life, she cared for him with all her heart.
He was nice to her, he appreciated her, and she didn't think she'd ever been shown affection before him.
They'd spent hours together, their lives forever intertwined together, and she'd watched him grow up with a smile in her soul.
She'd seen him grow from an eager eyed, messy haired young boy to a warrior, a soldier, someone everyone aspired to be.
And she adored him with every inch of her body.
He was her family.
When he cried, she wanted to cry too.
When pieces of him died inside, she lost parts of herself as well.
Seeing him upset broke her heart in two.

The pain in his voice had made her look away.
This life wasn't fair to him.
She hated the burden placed upon him and she knew that she wanted him to live, to survive, to go on, and so, as the jet of green light hit her body, she embraced it happily, hoping that her small sacrifice would be enough to buy him his life.
Hedwig died with a heart full of unwavering love and her eyes focused on the lightning bolt scar of her beloved owner.

I'm interested to see if it was obvious that Hedwig was the narrator of this story. If it wasn't, let me know who you thought it was!
