A Lost Soul

/by Kitkatz

One rainy day, there was a wanderer outside of the Koopa Castle. The stranger knocked on the front castle door. A guard slightly opened it, and let the stranger in. He led the wanderer to Bowser's room. The stranger stood there. Waiting for someone to come out, feeling nervous inside. The guard left the room silently. For a while, it was quiet. Then, the stranger saw a shadow against the wall. Bowser came into the room. "You know what you must do." Bowser said evilly. "Yes. I know very well." And with that, the stranger walked out of the room, and out the castle doors into the cold. It headed out to Toad Town, and looked at all the Toads safe in their houses. He looked down at a pipe that obviously led to the home of Mario. Was this where he wanted to go? Yes. Slowly, but swiftly, the wanderer slid down the tube, to Mario's house. At the house, the wanderer sadly looked up. It quietly tapped on the door. Luigi answered it. Luigi led him in. Inside, Mario came up to the stranger and asked who it was. The stranger took off its long black coat. It was a Lakitu without a cloud. This Lakitu was grey. He said he came to ask for some money. That wasn't the whole story, and Luigi knew it. The weak grey looking Lakitu explained that he lost his cloud because Mario took it away, to get over a cliff. Ever since then, he has been a lonely wanderer. Mario said he was sorry, but that wasn't enough. The Lakitu pleaded Mario for a cloud. He said that if the task wasn't complete, he would surely die. Mario didn't know what to do. This lost sole was accusing him of stealing his cloud. Actually, he did remember doing that lots of times. But it would really hurt his reputation if anyone found out. Luigi suggested the Lakitu go sleep in one of the beds. So he did. During the night, Mario crept in. He had a hammer in his hands, and he whacked the Lakitu across the head, until he made sure it wasn't breathing. The next morning, Luigi went in to wake the Lakitu up, but it was dead. He wondered how it happened. Only Mario truly knew.

So that's the story of the lost soul. Mario killed it, because he was worried about his own reputation, of being thought of as cruel. But really, I think Mario is the true villain in this sad sad tale. The only villain you can hate.

The poor lost soul was never seen again. The world was cruel. He was a Lost soul.

The End.
