Alright, folks, for this one,I was thinking of unveiling my new personal OC,Wing,as a character
in this fanfiction.
Unfortunately,it's self-insert,but hey,some people like that.
So,enjoy as best you can,and happy reading!
It was cold.
I remember looking up at the sky, wondering where the rain came from, when had it started.
Then I looked at the building in front of me.A church.
I looked around,slightly nervous.
My parents had never taught me to dislike such a hallowed place,but...
I guess, since they weren't exactly God-fearing folks,I never really looked to one for salvation until now.
I stepped forwards, slowly, then stumbled and fell onto the ground with a dull thud,as the rain continued falling, cold and unrelentless.
I lay there for a while, maybe a couple running away from home, trying to go to this church...it wasn't for me,was it?
That's when I heard a voice.A terse, heavy voice, one that raised the hairs o my neck even more than they already were.
" you alright?"
I looked up,and saw...her.
Golden eyes framed by blue hair, bent down on one knee over my was about my age,and really pretty.
I figured, since she had found me so soon, along with the crucifix hanging from her neck, that she had come form the church I had been trying to get to.
"Yes,I'm ok,just...tired...",I say to her."My brother...he..."
"Shhh...just keep quiet,we'll get you inside,"the girl says, getting off of her knee.
It's then that I notice another look slightly younger than the girl, with short hair.
"Xenovia,he looks really hurt,"they say to the blue-haired girl."Do you think he'll make it?"
"He'll be fine.I have faith in the Lord's power,"Xenovia says, pushing her hands under my shoulders.
"Now can you please help me bring him inside,Irina?"
She pouts, and sighs." We'll have to explain this to-"
"I know,"Xenovia quickly cuts the other girl off. "But we can't simply leave him 'll die for sure of exposure."
Nodding,Irina lifts my legs, and they carry my cold, limp body into the church.
Once inside, they place me down as gently as they can,and Irina runs to get some blankets for me.
Kneeling down once again,Xenovia asks me,"So,what's your name? What are you doing out in the rain?"
"My name's Wing,"I answer her."And I didn't really have a choice other than coming here,um...Xenovia,was it?"
She nods, and I continue."Yeah,I had to brother,he...went kinda crazy and killed my parents."
Xenovia made a sound with her tongue, and turned away slightly."...who's your brother?"
"Well-"
Before I can answer,Irina returns with blankets."Here you go!",she says cheerily.
I wrap myself in the blankets, smiling slightly at these two girls helping me.
Of course,it was raining out,and I was on my face when they found me,but still...I was happy to be helped by such nice people.
"So,Wing...",Xenovia asks as I close my eyes, happy to finally be safe.
"WING!",I hear another voice say,and feel a whack on the head.
"Ow,geez...!Ow,ow,ow..."
"Can't you please pay attention to the lesson? It's important to learn about your religeon if you want to be a priest someday!",the balding man says.
"Sorry,Friar Michael...",I respond sheepishly.
Man...I know I've been learning this kind of stuff for like 4 years now,but it's so boring.Like, can't we learn about something important?Like, say, how to ask a girl out who you've had a crush on ever since she saved you in the poring rain?
Allow me to explain a bit.
After the girls saved me,they brought me to the Archbishop, who immediately inquired as to why I came, and once he had heard my story,he felt that I should join the church as an acolyte,to learn the ways of Christianity,to spead the love of Jesus Christ, and yada yada yada.
But that's not why I'm here,I mean c'mon,we all know what I really wanna spread;there's two of them, and they carry the hottest priestess this side of Kagome.
Looking back at the girl in question,Xenovia watches the friar shuffle back to his lectern, muttering about something.
She glanced at me,and I looked away quickly, then looked back.
She was still staring,so I winked at her,and turned back.
"Oh God,that class was sooooooo booooooooring!",Irina says to me on the way out the door as everybody headed towards their homes, school being over for the day.
"Yeah,I know, right?",I replied, looking at the last few years that I'd known her, she'd gotten quite...there was no other way to describe her...shapely.
Like,holy damn,she was hot.
But it was quite obvious she didn't see me as anything more than a friend, and that was OK.
"So,"she says, poking me in the side with her elbow,"What's the deal between you and Xenovia, huh? You were giving her some pretty steamy looks,y'know."
"S-shut up,"I say to her,flinching as she kept poking me."It's nothing,I swear-"
Suddenly,my left hand started hurting.A lot.
Irina noticed that I had stopped walking and, worried, asked,"Are you alright?Should I bring you to the hospital?"
I shook my pain was slowly subsiding,so it wasn't that big of a deal."Thanks, but no thanks.I'll be fine,Irina."
She looked worried, but nodded in understanding."Alright,then..."
Perking up,she ran slightly ahead and asked,"Hey,do you...mind if we do something?"
I shrug."Depends on what kind of something."
Her smile widens."Alright,"she says simply, and takes my hand, pulling me the whole way.
I didn't know where we were going, but it seemed important to her,so I went with her.
After all,the Archbishop had put me in her house to live with her and her family as a guest.
About twenty minutes later,as the sun was setting,we stopped walking.
I went to ask why we had stopped, but she stopped me from doing so,placing a finger on my lips as I stood next to her.
"Listen,Wing,I...I have something to tell you,"she said plainly.
Oh no,I thought,it's going to be a confession, isn't it?A confession of how she really feels? At sunset? Can you get any more clichè?
"I know that you...that you have a really, really, really big crush on ,I have to ask...why?"
I ponder that for a moment, and say,"I think it has something to do with that day four years you two found me,in the rain.I dream about it all the time."
"Kind of like you were today in class?",she asks, smiling slightly."I know the smile you get whenever you think of her,Wing."She giggles."In fact, you're doing it right now."
Becoming self-consious,I try to look more neutral and fail miserably, making Irina laugh more.
"See?You always smile like that when you think of her."Her smile fades."But...you know..."
I look at her. Is she going to say it?
"...myself and her are going to become fully-fledged priestesses. You'll...probably never see us again."
I almost faint from her left arm heats up again.
Irina looks at me."I'm sorry, have to part ways,as do you and Xenovia.I can tell her how you feel,but...I don't know how she'll react."
"...you're leaving?",I quietly ask."Both of you?"
She nods slightly, tears in her eyes."Yes,"she says simply.
I ball my fists up, and quietly say, "No,you can't...not without me."
"Wing,this is dangerous-"
"I don't care!I'm not letting you two go out there, while you expect me to simply stay here hoping you come back!"
She was crying now,and I hated myself for making her cry,but I had to,I thought,as I hugged her.
"I'm sorry,Irina...I just can't let you two pack up and get out of my life."I pull off of her and hold her shoulders."Not yet."
She nods, wiping her eyes and sniffing."Ok.I'll ask the Archbishop."
I shake my head."No,Irina.I will."
She looks at me,slightly shocked, but nods in understanding.I nod back, and head for the church as night falls.
"Wing,"she calls after me.I turn around,and she flashes me a thumbs-up.I smile,and give her a thumbs-up in
return,continuing to walk.
I begged and pleaded with the Archbishop for three hours to let me go with the girls, and he finally,if reluctantly, said yes.
I muttered a 'thank you' and headed home.
Once I had exited the church,I heard a familiar voice taunt,"So you couldn't let me go,huh?"
I looked behind me,and saw Xenovia, leaning against the doorway, her arms folded and disappointment plain as day on her face.
"What's wrong,Xenovia?",I simply shook her head.
"I can't believe do you want to come with us?We're going on a dangerous mission.I didn't ask you to come with us-we didn't ask you to come with us."She looked at me,huffed again, and put her hands behind her, leaning on them.
Xenovia sighed, obviously frustrated with the turn of events."I just don't understand why, would you want to come with us?"
I look at the ground."Xenovia,I..."
My sentence is stopped by my arm once time, however,it was too much to bear, and I fell over in pain.
The last thing I remember was seeing fear in Xenovia's eyes, and her calling my name.
Believe it or not, I thought of this idea one day at work. I started working it out in my head, so it's still ongoing.
However, I might be a bit slow, seeing as I'm hoping to release a physical book this year.
Regardless, please leave reviews and comments, and rate as always! This is just the beginning!
