Do you remember all the city lights on the water? You saw me start to believe for the first time.
When asked when he knew he was in love with Rose Weasley, Scorpious could pinpoint the exact moment in time.
It was the summer of their sixth year, and they were preparing to go back and sit their NEWTS. Scorpious Malfoy was staying with the Potter's for the week before term began, as his parents were in France. Rose spent everyday revising in her room, while the rest of the Weasley-Potter children (and Scorpious) spent the time in the lake in Harry and Ginny's backyard.
On the 29th of August, two days before he had to be back at school, Scorpious was restless. He had received his Hogwarts letter that day, and was informed he was going to be head boy. He was scared he wasn't going to be able to live up to the title. He decided to walk around the lake, to clear his head. Upon arriving in the garden, Scorpious saw that someone else had had the same idea. He ran to catch up with Rose.
"Rosie." he said, touching her shoulder.
"Oh, hi Scor."
"Is everything okay?"
"Yeah."
They walked in silence for a moment, and then Rose sat on the side of the lake.
"I come out here every night." She said softly.
"Isn't it a bit of a walk? You live quite a way down the lane."
"Yeah, it is. But I really like it here at night."
"Why's that?" He asked curiously, looking at Rose.
"If you look at the water, you can see the lights from the city reflected on it. It's beautiful. This lake is a great place to come and think." She said, smiling.
"What have you been thinking about?"
"The future, mainly."
Scorpious looked out at the water. He had to admit, it was beautiful.
"Do you believe in true love, Scor?" Rose asked quietly.
"I don't believe in much, if I'm honest."
"What do you mean?"
"I never believed in father Christmas, or god, or even magic."
"How on earth can you not believe in magic? We're surrounded by it every day of our lives." She said, staring at him incredulously.
He looked at her, seeing the blue of her eyes.
"I mean pure, true magic. The kind we don't create with our wands."
"Why don't you believe in that?"
"Because I've never experienced it, I suppose." he looked at her, and smiled. She really was perfect.
"Rose, you're beautiful." He told her.
She turned to him, eyes shining. Scorpious stroked her cheek, before leaning in to softly kiss her lips. Before he had the chance to move away, Rose responded. Scorpious felt butterflies in his stomach. Not normal butterflies. It was as if butterflies the sizes of cats were throwing themselves around, flapping their wings. As they pulled away, they smiled.
A loud bang made them jump, followed by more. They looked up to the dark, starry sky and saw bright colourful fireworks spreading across the sky.
"Rose! Scor! What are you guys doing? Come see the fireworks!" Albus Potter's voice called through the darkness. Looking towards the house, Scorpious recognized the potter family standing in the garden, looking up at the sky. The fireworks had obviously woken them up.
As he held out his hand to help rose up, she laughed and said quietly "And you say that you don't believe in magic?"
Rose didn't leave his side for the rest of that night, or the rest of his life, for that matter. As he laid in his bed, on the 29th of august 2096, 80 year old Scorpius Malfoy remembered the lifetime of magic he'd experienced with his beautiful wife, Rose, before leaving this world to join her by the lake once again.
The ending was cheesy, not too sure I like it. Reviews would be nice!
