"You know," she said, "if you try it with some wind, it works better."

I turned to the small child, who stood gazing up at me with big blue-grey eyes and was clutching a small white dog toy to her chest.

"Thanks kid. But, I got what I wanted." I pulled my dog-eared kite toward me, and rolled the string back in.

I turned to the girl, staring at the flying contraption that had lured her to me. I bent down and kissed her cheek.

"Wait for him Kagome. He'll come."

She was blushing, with one hand holding her cheek, and the other on her doll.

"For who Mr..."

"Just call me Kit. And, you'll see."

I vanished before her eyes, and eventually she forgot it. But nothing is ever really forgotten.

She's still waiting.
