.:Abby likes Chester, Kid Rot adores Abby, but Chester's dead. Where does that leave them?:.

(1 chapter of 1 chapter)

"Ty!" Abby screamed, pulling her beloved brother out of the muck. She dragging him back, breathing a sigh of relief when she saw that the rot hadn't penetrated their suits. As long as it didn't touch their heads, they were safe.

Ty stood up, stomping his feet to get rid of the dead material. "Abby, he's here. I'm not sure where, but he's close." He backed up, carefully watching above and in the opposite direction of where she was. Standing back to back on the small, metal island in the deep channel of the gorge, they looked lethal.

Lethal to anyone but Kid Rot.

Bubbling to the surface, wicked white iris-ed eyes stared up from the almost human shaped blob of composite. "Abby," he said almost charmingly. "Ty." Disdain wasn't hidden.

She aimed straight for his face, but like last time, Kid Rot was much too powerful for the blaster to even work against him. He merely pulled more of the rot to form what his body had been at one time and touched her suit, grinning.

"I won't be mad if you say you're sorry," he said, pulling on her forearm.

Ty pulled out the weapon from his side and slammed the rounded, shiny end into the side of the former human. His face turned to pure horror when he saw that it wasn't doing a thing. Kid Rot looked uncomfortable, dropping Abby's arm and allowing her to scramble back a little, but it didn't do much.

"Stay out of it!"

"Ty!"

The younger grossologist was now dangling above the slow-churning cesspool, eyes wide. Luckily, even when Kid Rot forced him back with a blast of rot, he managed to grab a dangling chain and clung to it.

He was by her side, suddenly. "Anything you fear, anything you hate," he breathed, moldy breath almost enticing- if it weren't for the fact he was a villain and she was a hero.

'Resist, Abby,' she said to herself. 'It… it isn't Chester.' Lab Rat was right, she admitted grimly.

"I could make it go away."

Surprisingly, she agreed. She looked him in the eye and snarled. "I hate you! You-you killed Chester!" She screamed, terrified for the first time in her life; disgusted for the first time in a while by her job. "You go away!"

The mutant took a step back, reeling with more shock than usual. He allowed his feral, fanged grin to return after a second, though, and swiftly reached in, kissing her. He savored her for a second before stepping back, smirking. "You don't mean that."

"Abby!" Ty yelled, tears falling down his face. He was too young to have to face this kind of thing.

Abigail Archer fell to the floor, clawing at her own face for a second before her arms turned to mush and then her whole body.

It was in that second that Kid Rot realized why it might have been that Chester begged him to leave her alone. It was not jealousy over her nor spite for what Kid Rot had done to his social life.

It could have been that he loved her enough never to see her again to save her, but Rot didn't understand the concept of love, only lust and barely at that, so this thought never crossed his mind and Chester was far too gone to even contact his alter-ego.

There are no happy endings. Not… not for a coupling like this. Sadly, no happy endings for a coupling like this.
I adore Abby and Chester, secretly enjoy Kid Rot and Abby, but... it wouldn't ever work out. Not with Chester how he is.
