I had just shot the arrow that ended Cato's life. A mercy that was fitting, despite what he had done to everyone else. I just couldn't stand to hear his moans of pain as the mutts tore the flesh from his body. It was too much. I glanced at Peeta as I readied another arrow. I knew what had to be done.
"Peeta," I whispered.
"We did it, Katniss. We've won." He smiled at me and pulled me into a hug.
As soon as he released, I aim the arrow at his heart. "Not quite," I grinned as I fired the killshot into the boy I was supposed to love.
His eyes widened for an instant as he realized what had just happened. Then he died.
I looked around as a cannon boomed once, then twice.
"We have our winner!" A voice echoed. I'm pretty sure it was Claudius. "Katniss Everdeen!" I raised my bow in triumph.
I had won. I had just killed my 'love,' but damn it, I was going home.
Life is good.
A/N: As I'm sure you noticed, I am not a big Peeta fan. I wrote this an hour after I saw the midnight premiere. You don't have to like it, that's seriously fine. I thought it'd be funny.
...She really should have killed him though, and just lived her life with Prim and her mother. I mean honestly, the boy had death coming to him. He kept almost dying not just in 'The Hunger Games,' but in 'Catching Fire' and 'Mockingjay' as well. (If you haven't read them, I highly recommend it.)
Until next time.
