A Girl with a Broken Heart
Pairing: Kasumi/Ryu hints of Ryu/Irene, and Ayane/Hayate/Hitomi

Author Note: Another angsty piece, but hopefully the next piece will be a lot happier than this one and my other Kasumi/Ryu fic Remembering Cherry Blossoms.
Summary: He can protect her from her brother's assassins, but in the end he couldn't protect her from a broken heart
She almost wanted to laugh at the irony of the situation.
A broken perhaps hysterical laugh, but it was a laugh none of the less, but she pushes back the laughter having a feeling Hayabusa might take pity on her or something.
Pity is the last thing she wants from anybody.
She can already feel tears rising to her eyes as she glances away from him, hearing his rejection ringing through her ears.
A part of her wonders if she is a fool if she had been caught in the illusion that he chose to protect her because he love her. Not to fulfill his promise to Hayate, of course she has a feeling that the promise is nullified by now.
Considering she is a nukenin and Hayate wants her dead, even though she has a feeling Hayate won't be able to kill her himself.
So instead he sends his assassins after her instead even Ayane. Of course she should have been expecting Ayane wanting to kill her.
The lavender haired ninja has always despised her. Despite the fact there had been a time they were best friends, sisters in a matter of speaking, but then she found of her heritage. It was probably then when Ayane grew to hate her.
Perhaps that is when her heart first started to break, but now it feels like her heart is broken completely and there is no pieces left.
It was almost funny.
Hayabusa could protect her from her family, and her brother's assassins and he has done it quite efficiently to. After all there is a reason why he is known as one of the top ninjas, perhaps to good. If he isn't able to block all emotions such as love from his heart.
She has once someone told her it must have been a family member or some else in the village that shinobi's don't love, but what a lie that is. Hayate once told her that Hayabusa was once engaged to an Irene or something along those lines.
She knows Hayate loves a half German-half Japanese girl named Hitomi.
Then there is her who is currently suffering from a broken heart vaguely paying any attention of Hayabusa apology and vaguely hearing the excuse that shinobi's don't love.
"You are a liar, Hayabusa," she replies knowing her words were harsh but at the moment she doesn't care. Perhaps there is a part of her that wanted to hurt him in the same way he hurt her. "You loved Irene didn't you? Hayate loves Hitomi, and Ayane loves Hayate and they are all shinobis. So I don't buy this shinobi can't love crap."
With that remark she quickly disappears from his sight, small pink petals surrounding her form. A part of her knows if she stays with him it will only be adding salt to the wound. A part of her wonders if she will be able to heal from a broken heart. Of course she should be fair to Hayabusa her heart started breaking long before she confesses her feelings for him.
It started with Ayane breaking their friendship, then there was Hayate sending assassins after, and it finally ended with Hayabusa rejecting her. Maybe she is simply a glutton for punishment, but either way she is tired of it.
In the end there are things that great Hayabusa couldn't protect her from, and there is a part of her still wanted to laugh about that. Perhaps it is only then she realize why shinobi's shouldn't love, it was a distraction.
