School Spirit

Part 1: The Rules

When I woke up, I wasn't in my dorm where I once was and I wasn't wearing my pajamas. I was in a dark, big room with no windows and military soldiers blocking a steel door. I was wearing an orange jumpsuit that was a size too big and felt a stinging pain in my neck as though someone was digging into it. I lifted my head and noticed I was in a pile of other students, my peers. We had spent an entire year together and became somewhat of a family, today was supposed to be the last week of school. A few other people woke up with me "Where are we?" they all asked lazily. I hadn't noticed that the monstrous gym teacher, Coach Mullins. Coach Mullins was a gym teacher who wasn't very fit himself but pushes you to something; he was balding and wore the tackiest track jacket and sweatpants. Coach Mullins blew his whistle harshly which woke up everyone else in panic. "Time to watch the video! Don't fall asleep again!" he barked. We all put our eyes on the small TV next to him as he turned it on. A woman in her twenties appeared on screen; she had long black hair and wore a tie dye cap, t-shirt with the letters SG in big black writing, and shorts. "Hello everyone of Class 10-D!" she said cheerfully "You have been selected by your government to take part in the first annual Survival Games!" she said with a smile on her face "But lady, what is the Survival Games?" she asked herself in a childish tone "Well, you have been brought to this distant island that has since been deserted" she answered herself, an image of an island appears on screen that cuts to a bomb exploding "You will each be given a bag of food, water, first-aid kit, and an item to help you in this competition which you will use against your classmates. You will be spread across the island and during the week you are on this island you will try to survive the harsh obstacles we have put all over the island" she said proudly "Now, I will explain the rules so listen carefully then fight correctly and with energy!" she said "Once you have been dropped onto the island all laws will be revoked which gives you the freedom to do whatever you want! A giant glass dome has been placed over the island to keep all participants inside!" she says in a bit too excited tone "Happy Survival Games! And may the odds be ever in your favour!" she exclaimed and the TV shuts off "What a weird thing to say" I thought. "Grab a bag!" Coach Mullins barked and we all hurried to a large stack of backpacks in the corner of the room
