Hey, hey, she sings, it's the end of the world, oh the end of the world today.
Is that what they say? Emily asks with a smile, opening and shutting cupboard doors. Behind her there's a gurgle of tap water and a rushing hush as JJ fills the kettle. Click-click, on it goes.
That's what they say. JJ brushes past her to take a new jar of coffee from the top shelf. Here you go. She hands it over with a smile.
Sheepish, sheepish; Emily still gets lost in this apartment. Half-sleeping, the morning routine is performed on autopilot until her body realises that it doesn't recognise the space. Then it's an influx of collisions from the bed to the door, and bruises that she doesn't need after too-short a slumber.
JJ sleeps through the night. Emily would envy her if she wasn't so relieved. One of them needs to be an anchor, if only to keep them both from floating away.
end.
