AN: This is the first part of a new story of mine. I'm stuck at a later part, so I'm posting it now to see if I can get some help. First and only disclaimer: I don't own sonic the hedgehog, or any affiliated characters actually owned by the company. That said, enjoy, and I hope you all are better at reviewing than the loser-heads in anime/manga.

A quiet, insistent beeping woke him. Bleary-eyed, he waddled over to a desk and picked up a small box. Opening it, he glared into the harsh green light. "What is it, Nichole? This had better be important. It's 2 A.M."
"Since when has that mattered, Rotor?" the small computer teased. "Anyway, I'm picking something up."
"Oh? Where?"
"The middle of the ocean. There apparently were land masses there about 2000 years ago. But here's the weird part: it's near the equator, but I read the temperature to be almost -100 degrees C."
"What?" Rotor had been dozing, but he was fully awake now. "That's amazing! I'll round up a team first thing in the morning! Oh! Darn it, Nichole now I'm too excited to sleep. I'll gather the supplies and then see about getting some Freedom Fighters together in the morning." he began bustling around his machine shop, his fat walrus body quivering with excitement.
