Another Thomas rewrite, this time it's "Percy, James and the Fruitful Day" from Season 3, with added lines by tate310. Enjoy and comment.
It was a wonderful morning on the Island of Sodor, and James was feeling very pleased with himself.
His red pant gleamed in the sunshine as he raced along the line.
He reached the junction, just as Percy pulled in with his freight cars.
James was surprised to see him.
"What are you doing here? You should be at the station!"
"I know!" sighed Percy. "The freight cars have been troublesome all morning."
"That's no excuse!" snapped James. "Sir Topham Hatt always relies on us to be on time! Now if you excuse me, I need to be on my way!"
James puffed importantly away.
"Bossy buffers!" mumbled Percy.
James arrived at the harbor. It was Market day, which was a very important day on Sodor. Farmers deliver fresh fruits and vegetables from faraway lands.
The fruit was delivered in big ships, and James watched as strawberries, oranges, melons, and bananas were carefully loaded into his cars.
Then, he set off towards Knapford Station.
On the way, he met Thomas.
"I'm really reliable and right on time!" exclaimed James.
Then, he puffed away.
"What was that all about!" gasped Annie and Clarabel.
"That meant trouble." said Thomas. "Just watch and see!"
Percy was shunting in the yards. He had the cars behaving themselves and was making good time.
But the stationmaster had bad news.
"James's brakes have jammed, we need Percy's help right away!"
Percy quickly set off to the rescue.
James was stuck on the rails and looking glum when Percy arrived.
Percy laughed and laughed.
"Looks like you got yourself into a very sticky situation!" said Percy.
"Be quiet!" snapped James. "It's not funny being broken down because of jammed brakes!"
"And not very reliable!" said Percy.
"That's enough you two." said Percy's driver. "Percy, can you push these cars?"
"Of course I can! There's no time to lose."
As Percy was coupled up to the cars, James crossly blew steam.
"Off we go!" said Percy. "Big engines are always unreliable!"
"Be careful Percy!" warned his driver.
But Percy was in a hurry. He didn't see that he had been diverted into a old siding!
The driver applied the brakes, but it was too late! Fruit flew and landed all over Percy!
Luckily, no one was hurt.
Sir Topham Hatt soon arrived.
"I'm not blaming you for the points failure, but I do not run a jam factory!" he said.
"Yes sir, I mean, no sir!" said Percy as he puffed sadly away.
That night, the shed was silent. Nobody said a word, except Thomas.
"You know?" said Thomas to nobody in peculiar. "Mistakes always happen. Being on time doesn't always run the way we like it to be, but if friends tease each other, then things will go wrong. If we forgive our friends, then we'll be happy again."
"And we're really useful engines!" said everyone in unison.
