I have no idea where this came from, but I feel blasphemous for even writing it. Enjoy anyway.

Harry was numb. That was the only way he could describe himself at that moment in time as he stared blankly at the white wall opposite him. He didn't look away as the door opened and a doctor walked into the room, pottering around for a few minutes, keeping respectfully quiet, before walking out again. Harry glanced at the bed and wanted to vomit. His wife lay motionless in the middle, as white as the sheets that surrounded her, the machines that had only half an hour beforehand been beeping, were silent. He stood up and shakily walked over to the bed. He felt like he was in a dream and any second he would wake up, turn over and hug his wife tightly and then make love to her, forgetting the dream completely. But Harry knew that this wasn't a dream and he wouldn't be waking up and hugging his wife or making love to her ever again. Harry let out a sob as he sat on the edge of the bed, gently moving some of her blonde hair away from her face and leaning down to kiss her forehead. She was so cold.
"Nikki please" he sobbed, tears streaming down his face as he gripped her freezing hand in his, squeezing it tightly as he clung to her body "Don't leave me, please. I love you"
She had stayed with them for a week since the accident at the crime scene where a bullet had been placed in her neck by a lone gunman. The man being shot down by police soon afterwards. But her body had given up the day before and had been kept alive just by the machines surrounding her. However even the machines couldn't keep her with them. Even as stubborn as his wife was, she had slipped away from him.
Harry took a deep breath and kissed Nikki's cold forehead again, trying to remember the happy times they had together. He smiled as he remembered the ten years that they had known each other, all the amazing things that they had done together, even before they had admitted feelings and got together five years beforehand.
Ten years seemed such a short time to him now. He hadn't in his wildest of nightmares imagined this. He had imagined him and Nikki having decades together, growing old together surrounded by children and grandchildren. Not this. Not now.
He let out a small cry and more tears fell down his face as he kissed Nikki's lips gently. Stroking her hair as he did so and smiling slightly as he looked down at her. She looked so peaceful and angelic that Harry couldn't help but wonder, hope, that there really was something beyond this life. A quiet knock on the door brought him out of his musings and he sat up, wiping his face as he turned to see who it was. He already knew and more tears leaked from his eyes.
"I love you" he told his wife, smoothing her hair down and kissing her "I love you so much"
He tore himself away from her and wiped his face as he walked to the door, squeezing outside and smiling slightly at Leo who looked like he had aged ten years in the last hour. No words were needed between the two men, both of them torn with grief at the loss of a wife and a daughter. Harry however looked down when he felt a tugging at his trousers, he had to bite back another sob as he knelt down slowly, keen brown eyes looking at him imploringly.
"Daddy is mummy awake?"
