ONE LAST GOODBYE
Authors Note: This takes place the night after Feathertail's death. The group is traveling back to the forest.
It was the night after the day of Feathertail's death. Crowpaw thought about the silver she-cat every single day. How could've she been so brave? To save the Tribe of Rushing Water. To save themselves. But how could she just leave him? How could- "Crowfeather!" Squirrelpaw yowled to the black Windclan cat. "I've been yowling at you for moons!" Squirrelpaw complained. "Squirrelpaw!" Brambleclaw scolded the old apprentice. They all knew why Crowpaw's head was in the clouds. "Anyways, we are going hunting. We will meet back here when we're done. Agreed?" Squirrelpaw asked. "Who made you the leader?" Tawnypelt gently joked as the cats split up, leaving Crowpaw to grieve alone.
Squirrelpaw came back with two, plump mice. Brambleclaw dropped a nice looking vole onto the ground as he inspected the other's catch. Tawnypelt had a magpie while Stormfur had two fish. Then they glanced over to Crowpaw, who had nothing. "Look, I had a lot of things on my mind!" Crowpaw harshly yowled at them before stomping off through some trees. "Crowpaw!-" Squirrelpaw began to yell at the apprentice, but was stopped by Brambleclaw's tail in front of her. "Just give him some time." He told the apprentice as he looked down into her eyes.
Crowpaw stayed in the forest until the moon was high up into the sky. Then he walked back to where the group would stay that night. He came back then because all of the cats would be asleep. He slowly padded back to their camp as the bright moon made his pelt turn silver. When his paws brought him back to the camp he collapsed onto the ground. Sleep came easily for him.
"Hello?" Crowpaw yowled as he got up. He was surrounded by a hazy mist. He looked to the ground. All that was beneath him was a silver mist like cloud. Then he saw a figure slowly forming before him. "Hello? Show yourself!" Crowpaw hissed as his pelt began to bristle. But it soon stopped as he saw who the cat was. "Feathertail!" Crowpaw yowled in happiness as he began to race towards the beautiful cat. He was about to open his mouth to say something when the cat spoke first. "I am here to say my goodbyes Crowpaw." Feathertail spoke in a soft, gentle voice. "I walk in two skies now. It will be many seasons and moons, but I promise you. We'll meet again." Feathertail said as she stood still, but her figure began to race backwards. "No! Wait!" Crowpaw pleaded as he began to race towards her. But her figure soon disappeared. He sniffed the air. But she was still there. "We'll meet again soon my dear Crowpaw." Feathertail's soft mew echoed in his ear. Then Crowpaw jerked up with a startle. He was back at their camp. He looked up into the stars and spoke. "One day Feathertail." Crowpaw silently whispered as he went back to sleep. All he slept that night was a gentle, soft dream.
