Author's Note: So, it's been a while since I've posted something. What better way to get back into the swing of writing than to write a 100-word drabble? I might write up a few of these, actually. They're quite fun.


Carelessly, she threw the ring. It flew, only to fall short of its goal.

He smiled. "You were close. Would you like to try again?"

She wasn't sure what was mocking her more; the lost prize or his voice. "How foolish. This game is impossible to win."

His reply was never heard. Someone called her name, and she retreated back into the fun, light-sprinkled backdrop without looking back.

She wasn't smiling. It made him want to grab the toy doll and give chase.

He shook his head. No, she would have to come back; she had forgotten her consolation prize.
