Luke pulled the glass door tightly behind him, as the snow blew quickly on the wind. Java was as warm as necessary, but Luke was too happy about that. Regardless of the temperature outside, Luke couldn't take being warm. So, he quickly shed his wool coat, laying it across the chair he decided to sit in, before ordering a regular cup of coffee. As he waited, his phone began to make all kinds of noise. He pulled it from his jean pocket, unlocking his Iphone. It was a text...From Noah.

Hey.

Of course. Of course it was Noah. Maddie was back at college, after leaving for Christmas break. He knew what Noah was looking for too. He and Luke had been having an affair since early spring, a few months after Maddie left.

Did you tell her? Luke replied, referring to the promise Noah had made him before his girlfriend's arrival. Noah had promised him that he would tell Maddie about the two of them. He could barley contain his excitement as he waited for Noah to respond. He sat down, and sipped his coffee. Out of the window, he saw the one he had been talking to.

He was halfway through texting Luke when Noah walked into Java. Noah joined Luke at his table, wiping the snow from his coat. Luke didn't waste any time, and quickly asked Noah the question he had before. "Did you tell Maddie?" The expression that crossed Noah's face was indefinable, a mix between confusion and apology. "You didn't?"

"Well what could I say, Luke?" Noah snapped, leaning back in his chair. "Hey Maddie, how are you, I'm dumping you for another guy?" Luke's face registered a sad look, and Noah leaned quickly in again, taking Luke's face in his hands. "I promise, I'll tell her soon."

"Bullshit, Noah." Luke snapped, standing so quickly his chair fell out from under him. "I'm done. I don't want anything that badly. If your too afraid to tell her, or you don't want to, then I'm not going to bother you anymore. Goodbye."

Luke lifted his coat from the floor and repositioned the chair, before storming out the front door, into the storm.
