A/N Heyyy guys. So, I deleted this story, because, after some thought, I've realized that it could be so much better. It's the same story, just improved. Atleast, I hope it's improved. Tell me what you think!

Meditation was her escape. No, it didn't sound like Toph, but at the moment, she didn't know where else to turn. She was grateful for the peace it brought her, how it allowed her mind to drift off to a happier, less lonely place. She focused on the sound of waves crashing on the shore of the small, man made island she was currently visiting, focused on the soft rustling sound of grass being blown by a light breeze and on the distant laughter she yearned to be a part of.

She was at peace.

Until the sound of nearing footsteps inturrupted her, that is. She didn't speak until her intruder sat beside her.

"What's up, Twinkle Toes." He normally loud and confident voice was worn out and weak, and she cursed herself for not being a better actor.

"Just checking to make sure you're okay." Toph took a deep breath.

"I'm fine, Aang."

" Are you sure you don't want to join us? You could use a little cheering up."

"I'm fine." Aang sighed; he wasn't so sure. Toph barely spoke anymore, she barely ate, she barely did anything.

"Toph. I know it's hard losing someone you love-"

"It's not just that I lost someone I love, Aang, it's that it was my fault." She was standing now, anger surging through her, anger at herself for not being able to help him, for being so stupid. "I could have prevented it, Aang, and then he would still be there, if I hadn't been so, so-" She was on the verge of tears, but she wouldn't let them fall. She was stronger then this. "I just need to be alone, Aang." He nodded, but before he left, he hugged her.

"Everything happens for a reason, Toph, remember that, it's the only advice I have for you."

Sokka was the one who finally got Toph to join everyone else. He didn't arrive until later that day, but when he did, the first person he saw was Toph, still sitting alone, facing the ocean she would never see. At first, he just sat next to her, not saying a word, waiting for her to speak first, but she never did. Instead, she flung herself into his arms, and, for the first time since her husband's death, cried. And Sokka let her.

He couldn't help but think back to his mother's death, and how heart broken he had been. At the moment, it felt like he had gone back in time to comfort himself. He wrapped his arms around her, with one hand stoking her lose hair.

"I know it's hurts. I know." Finally, Toph pulled away, sniffling and wiping away tears.

"I-I'm sorry, Sokka."

"You have no reason to be sorry." Neither knew what to say after this, so for a while, there was only silence. Sokka, not suprizingly, was the first ot break it.

"How long have you been out here?" Toph thought this over for a minute.

"All day."

"Have you eaten anything?" Toph shook her head.

"You need to eat."

"I'm not hungry."

"Toph, I know you're upset, I know you don't feel like doing anything but curling up into a ball and staying that way for the rest of your life, but I will not stand around and let you do that. I'm not letting you starve yourself."

Toph was taken back by the harshness of Sokka' s voice. It was out of shock more then anything that she got up and followed him inside.

A/N So, what do you think? A bit to dramatic? What could I do to improve? Is it better then the original? Reviews, they are my fuel!
