This is a collection of one-shots, one thing altered that could have changed EVERYTHING. Guess in review what I changed! This is fairly easy….
Starclan help me!
Pain shot through his face as he collided with the base of the rock. Cold water engulfed him and the world turned black. Churning his paws, Stormkit flailed for the surface but he had no idea which way up was. Gravel grazed him belly, then his spine, as the river tumbled him downstream like a leaf.
Teeth gripped Stormkit's scruff. With a jerk, he was above the rushing water, dangling from the jaws of Mudfur. The brown warrior turned against the current and swam for shore. Stormkit gulped air, coughing and trembling, his body aching from the collision.
Mudfur scrambled from the river, and bounded up the bank. "Is he okay?" Oakkit yowled. Stormkit looked at his brother, eyes nearly closed as the aches became more painful, especially around his face. He closed his eyes for a brief moment, then opened them when he heard Rainflower's shrill mew. "Oakkit? Oakkit!" "I'm here." "What happened?" "Stormkit fell and hit a stepping-stone." "Take him to my den, Mudfur." Past the haze of pelts and worried eyes. Past the deep olive sedge and into the green calm of Brambleberry's den. It was a wide space, almost a clearing, thickly walled by sedge with a nest hollowed out at one side where Brambleberry slept. Rainflower moved around him, pushing past Brambleberry, nudging Mudfur as the brown tom laid Stormkit gently down. "What has he done to himself? His paw! His paw is broken!" Rainflower's wail sent a new wave of terror through him. Stormkit then heard Brambleberry give out a sigh. "His paw isn't broken. It's supposed to be like that." But Rainflower was already running out of the den, not looking back at Stormkit. Stormkit shivered, the water soaking his fur. Brambleberry had him swallow green, droopy leaves, then he was slowly lulled to sleep.
Many moons later..
Stormheart gave a low purr as he watched Silverkit playing with Willowkit, the she-kits playfully swiping at each other, jumping around with excitement. Willowbreeze had her tail entwined with Stormheart's, watching a dark gray she-kit with concern as she had a short out of coughing. "Minnowkit will be fine." the brown tabby tom said, trying to reassure his mate. Willowbreeze sighed, looking down at her paws. "Her whitecough isn't getting any better. Brambleberry's herbs are running out, and it hasn't even been the worst of leaf-bare yet." Stormheart looked at Minnowkit, the she-kit stretching in her nest, interrupted by a few coughs. A white she-cat with black spots padded over to Minnowkit, dropping fat, almond-shaped leaves at the kit's paws. Minnowkit gingerly licked them up, obvious disgust in her face. Brambleberry looked at the dark-gray she, hope in her eyes, then Minnowkit gave another small cough. The white and black she gave a small sigh of defeat, then padded to her den, tail dragging along the floor. Willowbreeze's tail left Stormheart's, and rested near her flank. "I hope she'll be ok." She mewed, a hint of sadness and concern in her voice. Stormheart's attention returned to the two wrestling gray kits, Silverkit pinning Willowkit to the ground. Willowkit went limp, Silverkit taking her paws off her sister, when Willowkit kicked Silverkit's stomach. "Willowbreeze!" The kit wailed, running over to her mother. Stormheart sighed. Kits, he thought.
