Her Kyo

A One-Shot by Tifa Tyndal

Summery: He was her Kyo and she never wanted to let him go.

Disclaimer: Disclaimer… such an interesting word. When you look at it closely it seems as though someone actually thought it was yours to begin with… well I'm flattered if that's the case but honestly, I must disclaim.

Spoiler Warning: Only for Kyo's unfortunate future…. oh, and I mention the rooster.

Her Kyo. He was hers. She had him first and she never wanted to let him go.

Kagura sighed as she patched up her cat backpack. It had gotten torn during her last visit to her beloved. Once again Kyo had tried to run and tried to reject her. She chuckled. She made it hard for him to accomplish either of those feats.

Ever since the day she bared all to him and told him of her real self she had been visiting Shigure's less often, trying to give him air. But she still loved him… so much. Ever angry scowl, every mean word, every tiny gesture, every almost-smile told a story. Kyo's story. The story of a tough upbringing where he had few friends and was despised by most. The story of a man who took him in and nurtured Kyo until now. And now the story of the girl he had fallen in love with.

No, Kagura wasn't blind. She could see it as clearly as anyone could (except maybe the two people involved) that Kyo and Tohru were in love with each other. Kagura knew she had already lost the battle over Kyo's heart and Tohru didn't even have to fight. So, silently, Kagura had surrendered long ago. That didn't stop her from loving him.

Kagura really didn't have much of a chance to meet any boys growing up. Obediently she had attended an all-girls school and submitted to not getting close to many. She had a few friends in college but everyone could tell she was slightly different. But no male friends… nope, that would be scandalous—not that Akito would ever know since he never paid any attention to her. She supposed because in a way, she was the most obedient of the entire Zodiac… except maybe Kureno. But that's getting off the subject. She had little chance to fall in love with anyone but Kyo. But Kyo was enough.

No matter how hard he resisted Kagura knew that somewhere in his heart he still enjoyed her company… when she wasn't rampaging. She knew that inside he was only a small scared child that just needed a mother to love him. A boy who needed someone to care enough… enough to save him. But Kagura wasn't that girl and she knew it. And she backed off.

Sometimes something someone would say caused Kagura to think about the horrible truth… Kyo was going away. On the day of his graduation he would be locked up never to walk out in the light of day again. But unlike Tohru who swore to free Kyo, Kagura had resigned to losing her love. She supposed it was part of her curse, she couldn't go against Akito. But that didn't stop the hurt.

She would always remember his smiling face as he reached out his hand and asked her to take it. She would always remember playing with him for hours. She would always remember his voice. Always. Even when he had been gone for years.

That's why Kagura still insistently clung to him. Because she knew he would be gone soon and she would lose him. Forever.

The only person she ever loved would be torn away and she couldn't do anything for him.

Her Kyo.

Okay, okay, I know: it's sad. But I realized one day that maybe Kagura clings to Kyo because she knows she won't have him for much longer… just a thought. Anyway, this was kinda fun to write and edit so I hope you enjoyed reading it! –The Author
