Ya's all know the song, yeah? Jayne standin' up ta Boss Higgins. Stealin' th' money which shoulda been ours an' givin' it back?
But did ya know he came back? I was there. Spent th' nigh' drinkin' wit' us. He even toasted us! Like we was special. Th' bar tender even said he asked fer mudders milk. Our hero drinkin' like us mudders.
Th' next day we all gathered cause Jayne was gonna talk ta us. I mean us! Ya could tell we counted ta him.
He just got through tellin' us he weren't good wit' words an' he thought we was special when we heard a gun shot! Only one place on this mud ball there's guns ta be had… Boss Higgin's house.
Ugly man holdin' th' gun. Jayne knows him, called him 'mighty hideous'! Reckon this Stitch had a run in wit' Jayne first time round. He had to be onea th' bosses' men. Only way he coulda got a gun.
Some gussied up stranger wit' Stitch. This Stitch says he's gonna butcher Jayne's man. Reckon Jayne saved th' stranger's life, sayin' he weren't onea his.
This Stitch claims him an' Jayne used ta work together, but he spinnin' lies. We all knows it. He gotta be workin' for the boss. Like I said only one way ta get a gun round here.
Then this Stitch, he jus' shot onea us dead! Jayne din' hesitate. Ain't never seen noone fight so hard fer us before. Jayne kills this Stitch, 'fore he could kill 'nother of us.
Jayne, well he goes ta th' mudder. He's all broken up 'bout him. Jayne stands an' shouts:
"All of you! You think there's someone just going to drop money on you? Money they could use? Well, there ain't people like that. There's just people like me."
I think he thought he failed, cause he pushed over the statue, like he meant it when he said he ain't a hero.
There oughta be more like him. Helpin' an' fightin' fer others. Jayne said he ain't a hero, just a workin' stiff like us. He's righ'. Jayne ain't a hero…He's the stuff legends are made of.
