Percy studied his meal. He was portioning how much to give the gods. Suddenly, Percy felt a hand reach into his pocket. Startled, Percy found Annabeth staring at him slyly. She quickly turned around and kept on walking. Percy dug around his pockets. He found a small piece of paper neatly folded. Meet me by the lake at 11:30 - Annabeth. His heart fell to his stomach. Oh how much he loved that girl. He smiled to himself with the expectations of the meet up. He quickly finished his dinner and went back to his cabin.

Percy stood in the mirror practicing romantic gestures. "Why do I worry so much, it comes so easy with her. I know she is the one. She is the only thing that keeps me going. Don't screw this up. Don't screw this up!" Percy pepped talked himself. It was only 10:45, past bedtime but still 45 minutes from the meet up time. He paced. How is Annabeth going to sneak out? He thought. It was going to be much easier for him because he had his cabin all to himself. But Annabeth shares a cabin with all of Athena's kids. Percy had hope, but he still had nervous jitters. He walked out to the lake.

He glanced down at his watch. 11 o'clock, still had 30 minutes to go. He still was pacing nervously. The water seemed to ripple behind him. Duh! He thought. The water always seemed to calm him down. Without even second guessing, Percy dove into the lake. The water seemed to hug him, but not get him wet. Percy found comfort in this. The water was like his home, everything was right. Everything was still, but at the same time it was buzzing with life. Hearing the waves, seeing the fish, even having the lake nyimphs watching his every move was joyful. He checked his watch, 11:20. Knowing Annabeth she was going to be here any minute! He thought as he swam up to the shore.
