Chapter One: Letters
*Knock, knock, knock!*
"Coming!" Said Twilight as she trotted up to the castle doors.
"I have a letter for, uhm." The grey pegasus mare squinted at the letter. "Oh! Princess Twilight Sparkle."
"Oh, thank you Derpy!"
"No problem."
Twilight trotted back inside and looked at the envelope. It was from the Chrystal Empire.
Maybe it's from Cadance.
It read:
Dear Twilight,
I'm hoping you can make a visit some time soon. I have some important matters I want to talk about.
Love,
Shining Armor
"Shining Armor? Since when did your brother start writing letters?" Asked Applejack.
"Well he... Now that I think of it, he's never written letters."
"Seems mighty awkward that he'd be sending you one now then."
"It must be important. I'd better go ahead and leave." She paused. "Do you want to come with me?"
"Oh no darling! If he wanted us to go with you I'm sure he would have said so."
"Ok, well I'll see you girls soon."
"Have fun!" Screamed Pinkie.
About five minutes later, Twilight arrived at the train station.
"One ticket to the Chrystal Empire."
"Sure thing." Said the clerk. "Oh no. You don't have to pay a thing." He continued when he saw Twilight pulling out her bits.
"But, I can't just take it for free." Twilight protested.
"Your a princess. None of the princesses have to pay for their tickets."
"Here, at least take half of them." Twilight said, levitation five bits directly in front of the clerk.
He pulled one out of the purple glow. "That'll do."
"Fine, if you insist." Twilight grumbled, climbing the stairs and onto the train.
Within ten minutes, the wheels screeched and they were moving.
"Twily!" Shining said when she arrived at the station.
They embraced, and Shining Armor brought her into a conference room in the castle.
"So what am I needed for? Is there an emergency?"
"Calm down Twilight. I just need to talk."
"Just. need. to talk... You had me come all the way up here for a conversation!? Are you crazy?"
"Twily, calm down. This is important."
"I'm sorry. I'm just not used to being called here for no other reason than an emergency."
"The Equestrian Games wasn't an emergency."
"I know. It's just... Never mind. What was it you need to talk about?"
"Ok. There's something, that Mom and Dad have kept a secret from you. They made me promise to never tell you, but I just can't keep it a secret any longer."
"What!?" Twilight yelled again. "You mean my own family has kept a secret from me?"
"Please calm down Twily, you know I get headaches easily."
"Sorry... again."
"It's ok. Now as I was saying: I can't stand hiding this from you anymore. But I need you to promise something."
"Yes..."
"Promise me you won't tell anypony. Not Mom, Dad, or Cadance. Princess Celestia and Princess Luna surely know already. You can tell your friends, just make sure they won't tell anypony."
"I promise."
"Ok... You have another sibling."
"What? When will he or she be born?"
"That's the thing. She is the same exact age as I."
"You mean she's already born?"
"Yes. In fact, she's my identical twin sister."
"Can I meet her?"
"I'm afraid you already have."
"I have?"
"Yes, you have. My twin sister is..."
*Knock, knock, knock!*
"Hello?" Said Octavia as she opened the door. "Oh, hello Derpy."
"Hi Octavia! I have a letter for..." She squinted her eyes. "Vinyl Scratch."
"What? A letter for Vinyl. They a tad bit odd... Thank you Derpy."
"Your welcome!"
"Vinyl."
*Silence.*
"Vinyl..."
Still no answer.
"Vinyl Scratch!"
Vinyl finally trotted out of her bedroom taking off her headphones. She glanced at Octavia.
"You have a letter from... The Chrystal Empire!?"
Vinyl ran and pulled the letter away and glared at it nervously. She opened the envelope and her eyes opened wide.
Dear Vinyl Scratch,
I know it has been many years, but I am braking my promise to Mom and Dad. I'm going to tell our sister about you.
I only hope you can be a great older sister to her. You've grown and matured. You no longer make the choices you made back then.
Love,
Shining Armor
Vinyl couldn't take it anymore. She wanted to reach out to her younger sister but was unable to. She didn't want Twilight to be influenced by her past.
"I'm leaving Ponyville."
"Vinyl! Did you just talk!?" Octavia screamed in astonishment.
"Yes. I said I'm leaving Ponyville."
"But you said you couldn't speak, actually you wrote it."
"No, I said I never wanted to speak again."
"But why?"
"Because I was afraid I'd say the wrong thing."
"How so?" Octavia asked, glaring.
"I'll write you later. Or you can visit me sometime. I need to pack and leave before Twilight returns." Damn it! I shouldn't have said that. Now she won't let me leave without answering.
"I understand." Octavia sighed, before pulling Vinyl into an embrace.
"Don't worry. I'll see you at you're concerts."
"Wait, where will you be going?"
"I think I'll move to Manehattan."
"Ok, I'll miss you."
"Hey I still have to pack! But, I'll miss you too."
Thirty minutes later, Vinyl finished packing and managed to catch the train to Manehattan before the train from the Chrystal Empire arrived.
