Okay, I hate myself for writing this. I'm strictly a Reef/Fin shipper, but when my friend Maddie [elephant45ed on fan fiction] had only one thing to say after I made her watch Stoked with me, knew I had to write this:
"Reef isn't smart enough for Fin; Fin isn't emotional enough for Reef."
Even though she ships them like crazy, she's absolutely right. Notice how it's Reef who realizes that he likes Fin before she can even realize she likes him. Fin is logical, Reef is illogical. Fin isn't as in touch with her emotions as Reef is with his. If her head is telling her something, she's going to go with that despite what her heart might be saying.
So, because I love Fin related fanon/crack pairings, I decided to try writing some simple Ty/Fin. And I've been highly inspired by I'mLegallyBrunette's awesome Ty/Fin story!
Let's assume that Emma and Ty are going out and Reef and Fin are as well.

Fic is named after the song Everything You Want by Vertical Horizon.
He watches as she dances, her hips swaying slightly, her head bobbing up and down occasionally, her eyes closed. She's dancing with a tall boy – his friend. Reef.
God, he hates himself. He likes his friend's girlfriend. While going out with Emma.
Good God.
Emma is getting them drinks, Lo is nowhere to be seen, and Broseph is dancing with a girl Ty doesn't know. Johnny is feebly attempting to talk to a pretty girl serving drinks.
He feels warm lips press against his cheek and spins around to see Emma offering him a plastic cup filled with a crimson substance.
"Are you alright Ty?" Emma says, her voice laced with concern. "You look kind of…sick or something."
Ty tugs on his collar awkwardly. "It's just hot in here,"
He's correct – one hundred bodies fill up the space of the tiny room. Strobe lights inhabit the corners and flick on and off. The whole room is covered in red light and there is music blasting.
"I think I'll just step outside." He pushes past her and runs outside.

She loves this song, it's loud and obnoxious and the perfect party song. Reef loves any song that is loud and obnoxious. She's tried to get him to sit down and appreciate softer songs with meaningful lyrics, but he doesn't – it's a lost cause. But that's who he is and she likes (if not loves) him for it.
She sees Ty watching her – the strobe lights dancing across his light brown hair and his skin. Ty…who's dating Emma, who is her friend. And Reef, who she (Fin) is dating, who is Ty's friend. She's disgusted with herself, with her stupid heart which insists on beating ten times faster when she's around Ty.
She avoids Ty's glare and looks up at Reef, who is dancing absolutely insanely. She ignores his crazy dance moves and looks over at Ty.
He's gone. Emma is standing where Ty used to be, holding two cups and looking around uncomfortably.
"Fin, Fin, earth to Fin!" Reef yells over the noisy music.
"Yes," She responds, watching as Emma goes over to the drinks table and ditches the cups she's holding. Emma makes her way towards Broseph and Lo – who has suddenly made a reappearance. She sees Johnny sprint over to Emma and immediately asks her to dance.
Reef eyes her weirdly. "You look like you're sick."
"It's just," she sighs. "Um, really hot. I think I'm going to step outside – I'll be back in a few minutes."
Reef nods and skips over to their friends – still dancing.
She rushes towards the door and opens it.

She was everything Emma wasn't. He was everything Reef was incapable of being.
