Clay

The world was black.

Darkness was all Deidara could see as he lay on his back, with no idea of what had just happened.

What the fuck? Hmmm…

Gingerly, Deidara got up and saw that he was wearing…

No way!! Red clouds on a black cloak. Purple nail polish…

He blinked. The darkness seemed to melt before his eyes, revealing…

Eight people stood before him, all donning the Akatsuki cloaks…not to mention the same purple nail polish.

That is, only one of them was a hologram. That spiky hairdo; the weird whirlpool-like eyes…

It wasn't until Deidara found himself gazing into a pair of c

old, scarlet eyes that it all came back to him.

----------------------------Flashback no Jutsu!-------------------------------------------------------

"I will not join the Akatsuki!" Deidara yelled.

Itachi Uchiha examined him through his cold, somewhat feminine, eyes. "Well then," he said calmly "I'll need to take you by force… unless you agree to come with me and join. One last chance…"

"You can keep that little fantasy in your head. Yeah…"

Itachi's expression didn't change. All he did was close his eyes.

"Then you leave me no choice."

"…"

"Allow me to demonstrate how powerful the Uchiha clan truly is."

Before Deidara could react, Itachi's eyes snapped wide open.

"Mangekyou Sharingan!"

Deidara found himself in his own nightmare world. Pain was found in every inch of his body. He witnessed every bad memory in his head. Then came his worst.

The night his parents were killed.

Clay swirled over them. It just kept swirling and exploding. All Deidara could do was watch, helpless.

An innocent 7 year old Deidara watched as his parents disappeared in the explosions, calling out his name. Deidara had never felt so helpless. He had to do something, but he was too scared…

The dust cleared, revealing only a mound of clay… what was left of his parents.

"NNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

----------------------------Kai!----------------------------------------------------

Deidara stood up and glared right into those eyes.

It was the hologram that spoke, its voice echoing off the cave walls.

"Deidara-san. Welcome to the Akatsuki. Itachi Uchiha's success in bringing you into the Akatsuki must be congratulated. But first…"

The hologram turned to a red-haired youth that was the closest to Deidara.

"This is Sasori and he will be your partner."

Sasori dipped his head in acknowledgement.

The hologram turned back to him.

"Are you in or out?"

"…"

The hologram dipped his head slightly towards Itachi.

Deidara held back a shudder. No way was he going to experience what he saw all over again…

Deidara answered, in a fine-but-this-isn't- over tone "Fine…"

Sasori looked like he wanted to strangle him.

The hologram nodded "Excellent. I am the leader, Pein."

It wasn't until a week later that, although Deidara hated to admit it, the Akatsuki was starting to seem like a family. Kisame was polite to him and friendly enough to get by and Sasori, although he was rude to him at times and disagreed with his view of art, began to be like Deidara's brother, through Deidara's eyes at least. In short, most of the Akatsuki were fine for Deidara.

It was then when Deidara was finally focusing upon his goals: Surpass Itachi and never let harm get to Sasori.

At last, Deidara felt like he fit in.

PT: The point of this story is that, although you're evil, in your heart, there's some goodness. There's also a second lesson, if you have an important idol, no matter what they seem, they are important and you can't destroy that feeling and it's okay.
