The letter
"Noll." Lin called. Looking up from his book Oliver watched as Lin and Madoka looked at him with concerned eyes.
"What is it?"
"We asked what you said to Mai." Replied Madoka.
"I really don't think that's any of your business."
"Noll she didn't even show up to see us off. Don't you think that's a little odd?"
Oliver sighed and ignored the question by looking back at his book and continued to read.
"Noll what is wrong with you?"
Silence was Madoka's only answer as Noll stared at the pages of the rather large book. He didn't need to answer he decided.
"Oliver Davis!"
Oliver flinched (barely) at the use of his full name.
"Whatever I said or she said is none of your business. And besides it was her fault for getting the two of us mixed up in the first place."
"Do really think it's her fault?" No. I knew it wasn't, but I didn't want to think about it.
"She should have seen the differences."
The two adults exchanged glances. "You know that's hard. And she didn't even know who he was until the very end" It was quite obvious that the two new exactly what had happened.
"That's her own fault. She was too dimwitted to even figure it out."
They went quiet after that and it wasn't until half way through the eleven hour flight that they brought up the topic again. But this time it was more along the lines of a glance, which got his attention immediately. Lin silently handed Oliver a small envelope. They sat there and stared at him as he looked to the piece of paper in his hand and back to them.
"What is this?" He asked skeptically.
"It's from Mai." Was all the answered Oliver got from the stoic Chinese man. He looked at the front of the letter and sure enough there in her writing was his name. Sighing, he ripped it open and took out a single folded piece of paper. he stared at it, his cold blue gaze showing his frustration.
. "Well? What does it say?" Madoka asked.
"I don't know." He growled out. His frustration for the girl was growing by the minute. Honestly what was wrong with her? She new bloody well that he couldn't read kanji worth shit.
"What do you mean you don't know?" Madoka pried.
"Its written in Kanji." Sighing Oliver handed over the letter to her. "Could you… read it for me?" his teeth clenched , he was honestly surprised that he was able to get that much out of his mouth without snapping.
"I really don't think I should. I'm pretty sure it'll be privet.
"I really don't care how else am I supposed to know what it says?"
"Fine Mr. snappy pants." Then she took a breath and he held his in anticipation. (Not that he would admit it that he was excited to hear what was written. Ever. )
"Dear Naru,
Even as I write this I'm cringing at the thought of you reading this. Well at the thought of someone having to read this to you. I know you aren't that great at kanji… oh well deal with since I can't read English. Not well anyways.
The reason I'm have Lin and Madoka give this to you is so you know that I want to wish you well in the future and that I hope that I will meet you at some point along the way. By the way I didn't come today because I am currently flying off to another country. So if you do come back to Japan don't come looking for me in Japan. I love you Naru, and when the time is right I will send you another letter.
Taniyama Mai.
Oliver sighed and placed his head between legs and fisted his hands in his hair. Why did everything have to be so complicated?
So I decided to make this a multi chapter fic. I'm working on the 1st chapter and I hope to have it up soon. I had quite a few requests for it after all… anyways I know I posted a similar prolog at first but because my writing style has changed (I'm actually taking a class at the moment for writing) I figured I would have to rewrite this. I also switched it up a little in order to fit the ideas I have for this story .I will try to update regularly.
