Two Sides (Darth Vader Tribute Poem)
Imposing, yet empty
Where does the armor end and the man begin?
The power to crush a man's throat without coming close
Yet unable to feel a breeze of wind
Once a keeper of the peace
Now the enforcer of tyranny
Unforgiving towards anyone who make the slightest mistake
Yet in the end, kindness is his destiny
He lived through fear
Under a black mask concealed
The implacable hunter who altered deals
Yet chinks in his armor were revealed
His son saw the good in him
The hero who was still inside
He almost lost his son that day
Yet the darkness he finally denied
He lost his life to save his son
And the daughter he never really knew
He joined his oldest friends in death
Yet died a man his children could look up to
Author's Note: This came from a writing class project where we had to write a poem about a character from a movie or show ("So wait, we get to write fanfiction as poetry? Sign me up."). I chose Darth Vader because he's one of the most well-known characters in movie history, with a lot of conficts and contradictions.
