Prologue:
The two cats touched noses gently, rubbing their pelt along another, their tails intertwined together. Flamewing rubbed her muzzle along Thornfrost's jaws as he purred and lifted his chin happily. Thornfrost then stood on tip toe and wound his slender body against Flamewing's pelt. Flamewing purred loud enough for me to hear as Thornfrost pressed his warm body against her own.
I stared at the two. How could they? I thought. They were breaking the warrior code! I watched in horror as Flamewing gently licked Thornfrost's muzzle with a longing look in her eyes. Thornfrost's tail twitched side to side as happy as can be.
I felt my fur bristle in fear and anger. Was Flamewing truly in love with Thornfrost?
Suddenly I started to panic. My paws shook so hard that I had to sit to calm myself down. I fought the strong urge to leap out of my hiding spot and drag Flamewing back to camp and forbid her from going to see Thornfrost.
Hatred filled my lungs slowly. I felt myself breathe shallowly. I slowly closed my eyes, trying to calm down again.
Thornfrost will pay, I thought. I heard Thornfrost purr with happiness. My eyes jolted open as I hissed quietly, out of control.
I leapt out of the bushes and tackled Thornfrost, knocking him whisker over tail. He must have heard me coming because he quickly recovered and strongly batted my ear. I saw stars. Somehow, he flipped me over and raked all his claws down my underbelly. I screeched in pain.
Thornfrost was smaller than me, but clearly stronger.
Flamewing hissed as Thornfrost leapt off of me. "Rockfrost? What are you doing here? Did you follow me?" My littermate's eyes looked angry. "I had to figure out what you were doing! You always seemed distant whenever you came back from your 'hunting trips'." I shook myself as I stood up. "Anyway, are you guys," I stopped then meowed, "Of course you guys are! You are breaking the warrior code!" Thornfrost's eyes flashed dangerously, but he remained silent.
"Don't you think we know that?" Flamewing snapped back.
"We can't help it," Thornfrost meowed dryly. "We love each other." They touched noses gently then turned back towards me, their gazes burning into my fur.
