A/N: This is my first story on Fanfiction. So, please no flames…constructive criticism only if you don't like it.

Disclaimer: If you recognize it I don't own it. DC Comics owns the characters. I haven't seen this plot on the site so if someone else has a similar story, our minds think alike (which could be good or bad).

Summary: Robin's parents looking down on their son, giving their thoughts on who he has become and the team. Oneshot.

Our Little Bird

There he goes, our son, saving innocent lives. While we wish we were there with him, we know that if we were then he would not have had the opportunity to become Robin. As a result of our deaths, Bruce Wayne took him in and showed him how to save people. At eight-years-old, Dick became an orphan. We were taken to him by a mobster who was mad at the leader of the circus we worked with and he caused an accident to occur.

Richard could have become bitter. He would have had just cause to do so; our death could have made him turn to a life of crime. Instead he was given the choice and the opportunity to become something more. He now fights so that others do not have to go through what he, and his mentor, went through at such young ages. Both know what it is like to lose those you love to violence and now work to curtail the violence others face. Watching him do these things can be scary at times because every time he goes out there is a chance he won't make it back. We want to be with him again, but not before he has a chance to live out a long life.

Also, he has been given a chance to work with a team of others his age with the same goals. These "sidekicks" have become his best friends and de facto family. It is amazing to watch these teens in action working together mission after mission. They give all that they have night after night, fighting crime and protecting others. They all come from different backgrounds and have different abilities, super or otherwise. Even though they don't always get along or see eye to eye, they truly are a family. Dick may be the youngest, but he has been a sidekick for a long time. His acrobatic and fighting abilities may not be super powers, but have been honed by hours of training and practicing. The other members of the team all share a sibling-like bond and have a role in the team that makes them invaluable. Kaldur, the leader and oldest of the team, has to make the hard choices. They may not always agree with him, but the others have learned to respect his decisions. Conner, the strongest of the team, appears about the same age as the rest of the team even though he is not. His background is so different from the others since he is a clone of Superman. Through the team he has learned to be "human." Miss Martian and Artemis are like sisters to Dick. Megan is from another planet and has also learned how to fit in among those on Earth from the team. She is the caring one and she works hard to help everyone work together. Artemis, like Dick, does not have any super powers and has worked hard to hone her archery skills. Finally, Wally is the closest to Dick and probably his best friend. His speed and comical relief are a great help to the team. These two have known each other the longest and have always had each other's back.

All of these teens and Bruce Wayne have been there for our son when we were unable. We can never show our appreciation to them. Also, we cannot show our son how proud we are of him and all that he has accomplished. He has truly become a superhero. We know that even though we are not there to help him and be there for him, he can protect his self and has friends who will be there to help. If we could tell our son only one thing it would be this: "We are so proud of you our Little Bird and we will always love you."
