I had a sudden inspiration to write this, and I think it's not bad. I'm not really sure where it's going, though. Any suggestions?

Disclaimer: Sadly I don't own Digimon, Digital Monsters!

Sora leaned back, taking a deep breath. Smile, she told herself sternly. Smiling releases endorphins, endorphins make you feel better. Smile! The corners of her mouth twitched erratically, and she nearly laughed at how much she was struggling. But to laugh you need to smile and if you can't smile then you can't laugh and right now Sora couldn't, just couldn't smile.

It wasn't that anything bad had happened - well, not compared to what she'd been through in the past. All it was was a stupid, teenage manwhore getting on her nerves all over AIM bragging about his latest date. How the hell he managed to find all these girls, Sora had no idea. She'd be damned if she'd ever go out with him. Even the thought made her want to vomit a little in her mouth. But of course, it was the manwhore who got all the dates when Sora had no one.

Perfect.

Smile.

You say you wanna revolution, well you know - we all want to change the world. But when you talk about destruction, don't you know that you can count me out -

Sora grabbed her phone. "Hey, Tai," she said quickly. "What's up?"

"Sora!" came Tai's voice, energetic and enthusiastic as always. How come Tai was never sad? Sora found herself wondering. He's never sad, never serious - all I've seen him is happy. How does he do it? What's his secret?

"Um...I don't have a secret. I guess I just look on the bright side of things." Sora nearly jumped up from the chair as his voice sounded in her ear.

"I didn't mean to say that out loud," she said, blushing. Thank god he couldn't see her now.

Tai laughed on the other end of the phone. "It's alright, I don't mind. You always tell me stuff like that."

I do? Sora couldn't help thinking, surprised. I didn't know that.

"So...what did you call for?" she asked him, changing the subject abruptly. She winced a little; her voice had come out more demanding than she'd intended. Smile!

When Tai spoke again he sounded slightly taken aback. "Just thought I'd say hi, didn't really get to talk to you today."

"Oh."

"Yeah."

"Um-"

"Listen, is something wrong?" It was kinda unnerving, the way Tai always knew these things. How was Sora supposed to answer that? 'Yeah, I'm not a slut and it SUCKS.' Somehow she didn't think Tai would react well to that. Just say something already!

Sora opened her mouth. "Noth-"

You don't know how lovely you are...I had to find you, tell you I need you, tell you I set you apart -

"Sorry, Tai, I got another call coming in," said Sora hastily.

You were about to lie to him, weren't you?

"Who?"

You were about to just lie to him.

"I dunno," she said casually. "I'll talk to you later, okay?"

You've never lied to Tai before.

"Sor...yeah. Okay." Sora hated how disappointed he sounded. Was he disappointed in her? She didn't have time to consider it as she answered the call.

"Hey, Matt."

Bye, Tai.

"Hey Sora. Guess what."

I lied to Tai. TAI. I couldn't tell my best friend his best friend was calling.

Nevertheless, Sora found the corners of her mouth twitching again as she heard Matt's calm breath in her ear. "What?"

"I miss you."

Sora smiled.

Please review! I'm open to suggestions :)
